Octane Boosters

Anyone have any experience or recommendations for adding octane booster during trackday sessions?

I have been advised to use Millers Octane Plus (+2 octane), but am reluctant to introduce any additives without guidance from the Porsche fraternity

I don' t have any specific experience.
However I did ask at my OPC is using super unleaded would give any improvement, but they said just run the car on 95 octane fuel. You can put more expensive higher octane fuel in (similar to adding a booster) but the engine management is set for 95.
Adding a booster can lead to pinking or timing issues, but the engine management system adjusts for this. Therefore you get no advantage.

On a Nissan 200SX I tried this, but the higher octane seemed to give a bit more mid range but less top end power, presumably due to the timing change from the management system.

I don' t think it can do any harm so you could try it, although it might run a few degrees warmer.
On the Paris-Dakar they run cars on aviation fuel which is 110 or something.

People say that Shell Optimax makes a difference, both to performance and fuel economy. Tried it with my last Boxster.

The handbook of my MY99 996 clearly states that " The engine is designed to provide optimum performance and fuel consumption if unleaded fuel with 98 RON is used" (Page 3).

As it was with my Boxster - so I usually hunt out Shell Optimax!

My 993 handbook also said optimum performance and fuel consumption with unleaded 98 RON.

It went on to say that if 95 RON was used the engine knock sensor adapted the timing.
