Yeah, been there mate. I think it's the old "It's not a proper Porsche" chestnut. But people like that are only buying it for the badge and the status symbol on the drive thing. They're not enthusiasts like you and me. Proper car fans who enjoy the car, relish the experience, honour the heritage and who arn't afraid to use a spanner and screwdriver either.

I generally give a quick flash of the lights as well as wave and you always get much better results. Not everyone has such great observational skills and the warm feeling of cameraderie is worth the fleeting embarressment of a wasted flash [

I tend to wave at all Porsches but dont always get one back but hey nevermind. Always let other Porsches out at junctions, lights etc even when im in my vauxhall frontera. Oh and i came across befor when i had my 944 people saying its not a proper Porsche but most of the people that siad it were driving Fords etc... TWATS!! I still get the samd from people with my 911, its the usuall.... Its only a VW...Think a hint of jelousy!!

I think that some people who are new to Porsche ownership (Boxster, 996 / 997, Cayenne, Cayman) don't realise that 924 944 and the like are actually Porsches. I will always wave to them but tend to flash my lights as well at the older ones (regardless of which Porsche I am driving). I nod my head to other bikers when out on a bike. I wave at VW Golfs (Mk1 & 2), especially cabs. Don't wave to other Volvo drivers as I don't want to disturb their daydream.
One of my favourite experiences regarding 'Its only got a VW engine in.' was one time in a car park when I was in my 924S. "Bollocks," I opened the bonnet and there was a 'Porsche' engine. "Old wives' tale!" was my reply to the spotty little Nova driver (it was probably his mum's car anyway). Hopefully that totally confused him for a while.

I can't remember the last time I got a wave back from ANY Porsche.
I always wave (well, raise hand in greeting anyway []) - and usually get ignored.
I get more aknowledgement from bikers I've noticed and made room for than other Porsches.

I'd be very happy to get a wave from ANY Porsche. It'll stop my wife from laughing at me everytime I wave and get absolutely no response back.

My problem is that my reactions are too slow. By the time I see another Porsche and remember to flash, they've gone past....[

acceleration times are coming down by the week! Although its abit of a prison sentance![

"Big Mac" you mean a "Mc Chicken burger"!Well I was driving along the other day when I spotted a metallic burgandy 944t driving around my area (and there are probably only half a dozen turbo's in Sydney pop. 5 million!) so I followed him for half a mile or so until we pulled up at a set of lights. I drew up beside him, turned and waved , and he just turned away from me and ignored me! I was sitting less than 10' away and he totally brushed me! I was not impressed...and apparently nor was he.[]

I own a classic ford and if I take it anywhere I get waves from old cars/ bikes and more often then not, old people who remember it first time round. But this weekend I took out my new Porsche 944 for my first real drive in it down to Somerset and on the way I saw 5 other 944's. Not a single one even raised a smile when I enthusiastically popped the light to say hi!
By the end I'd put the numerous dishearten moments down to the fact that it was just because my 944 was nicer!! (ego still intact)
