Alright not a major problem but as a warning to others take care when cleaning the filler cap area. A few days earlier I had spilled a few drops of fuel while removing the filler nozzle so when cleaning the car yesterday I decided to wash behind the cover. I use a large cotton towel to wash the car and it was the bulk of this that put just a little too much pressure on the cover, there was an audible crack and now the cover no longer closes correctly. I will need to schedule a trip to my OPC to assess just what damage I've done but as the car is now approaching 2000 miles I may well combine this with an oil and filter change.
 
Glad to report that the problem has now been sorted thanks to Reynolds of Rushock (my local Porsche approved body shop). They quickly relocated the spring and tidied a couple of small paint blemishes that were present on delivery and the best is that because the work was considered so minor there was no charge! Excellent, friendly service, I was even given a cup of coffee while I waited for the work to be carried out.

Not recommended but in my opinion well worth it. I may be a little over-zealous but it is during the first few hundreds of miles that the final bedding-in of parts takes place and this results in fine metallic contamination of the oil. These particles if not removed result in higher wear rates in bearings etc. than would otherwise be the case. 1900 miles (which was when I had the oil changed) may be conservative but I believe 20000 miles is much too late and is probably driven more by marketing and contract lease company considerations than what is right for the engine. Not so long ago an oil change for a new car was recommended at 500, 1000 and thereafter every 3000 miles. I know manufacturing techniques and oils have improved but 20000 miles? I will be changing mine annually or every 10000 miles from now on.

The engines have been (partially) run in before the leave the factory, you are wasting your money on an oil change this early, but if it makes you feel better[:)]
 
Have just had the first service yesterday - coming up to two years and 12k miles. Before it went in I looked at the oil which hasn't been changed from new, and it was not even dark in colour, so IMO would have been fine for another 8k.

As an aside, the service was £199 + VAT plus oil and a couple of filters.

Not bad for a high performance car eh?

And they fixed the squeak from the front suspension over road humps - hurrah!!!

I so regret not having changed it at 2000 miles. I certainly hope allowing the oil to get this dirty will not have detrimental effects on the life of the engine. I have never let any of my cars' oil ever get this dirty. Not having a dipstick for the simple task of examining the condition of the oil is a real PIA with these cars."
