Just got us a luverly '94 993 but I wondered if anyone could advise on why the rear spoiler makes a grating noise when it lowers. Its OK going up. Tried copperslip on gear wheel and ratchet ring which has reduced the vibration but it still makes a horrid noise (not cool when in a traffic queue!). Nothing appears to be loose. Any ideas?

Noisy Rear Spoiler

Thanks for the link Maurice, we'll give it a go.
When I get a chance I'll have to get a picture for forum postings and, yes, I will put it on the Register.
btw - I was looking at colour codes etc and mine was shown on Porsche Cars search as Midnight Blue but the paint code (L39C) appears on the Rennlist site as is Night Blue Metallic. Was there a difference for the US market or something. It is a real puzzle.
Best wishes

midnight blue on the 993 is more of a purple tinge than the midnight blue on a 964 by the way, i was parked beside one at a pistonheads meet and neither of us new that there was a difference
Thanks John, I'm really hoping I don't have to resort to a whole new spoiler! We'll try the slightly cheaper option first - especially as we've just put a new curtain on ours. In the nicest possible way, I hope I don't have to contact you javascript:void(AddText('[
]'))
javascript:void(AddText('[
]'))!
Cheers to Elliott too - you might have seen the car around - it came from Fleet which is your part of the world. You would think a paint code is a paint code is a paint code wouldn't you, regardless of the car it is on!

Laura - Excellent choice of colour - Just like mine! [

The Americans might refer to it as 'night blue' because it is a more literal translation of the German 'nachtblau'.
'night blue' ' midnight blue' - It's all the same.

BTW, the 911 Red book lists only Midnight Blue Metallic with a color code of F8 (as it appears on the bonnet sticker) for '91 on 964 and 993 cars - was 37W prior.
There seems to be two 'midnight blue' colours in the UK.
L37W which is listed as midnight blue (also referred to as midnight blue pearl on rennlist).
L39C which is referred to as night blue metallic.
I suspect they are the same blue or very very similar but with a different 'metallic' effect. I have seen cars with pearl effect paint and it has a different type of sparkle to the metallic effect. The metallic effect seems to have more of a bronze/gold sparkle than the whiter/silver sparkle of a pearl effect paint.
I can confirm the existence of L39C as I have a 96 993 in the colour so you are not going crazy.
Ian.
