Rear fog lights inop
The light comes on the switch(with fronts on)
Checked fuse and bulbs
Is this a common fault? any ideas
Thanks, Tim

Hi Tim
A quick way is to pull Relay G11 and short terminal 30 to 87. Put the foglight switch on... This will tell you if the foglights themselves are ok

I can be corrected in this but the sidelights bring in G11 and the switch output is direct to the lights.. Strange system

It's the bulb holders!
Yesterday I fitted new bulbs but still didn't work.
Today I wiggled the bulbs and they both work....ish
Gonna clean the holders as they have a thin white corrosion on most of the bulb sockets.

Its a day of dodgy bulb holders, rather that than trying to work out these Porsche wiring diagrams[:)]

Common problem with the rear lights as they can get damp from the rear hatch drains at some time, I had the same issue with mine and had to remove the whole plate and clean up all the bulb holder contacts, also check the condition of the bulbs mine had aged badly so I replaced them all for new only a couple of pounds and the difference was amazing.

Thanks again for the replies.
I have just cleaned both the rear bulb holders and a few bulbs, all working fine now....Happy days[:D]

Hi there
Just had a whole host of fog light issues myself and had to do a temporary fix to get my mot ticket! I had rusty connections, old bulbs with corrosion on them etc... Also I think a problem with my main light switch supply power to the fog light switch but couldn't find a decent wiring diagram for my 85 lux to work out what went were???

Does an 85 car have relay G11? I could here a relay clicking somewhere in the centre panel but thought that might be an extra one as not sure my car started life with front fogs in the valance?
I have my original Porsche service guide and it shows no relay for the fogs? Haynes has loads of part diagrams for different years but not one complete system?
Any ideas would be great as I would like to get back to how it should be if I could.
Cheers
Tim
