I thought it might be an idea to share our favourite roads in the region (and pehaps around it).
So where would you recommend for a nice drive in your car?
(Try and keep on topic - no point having the thread deleted!)

Watch it Helen, that' s right past my house.

The A272 from Uckfield all the way to Winchester is a fantastic road, with loads of nice corners.

there' s some nice country roads around Mayfield aswell, though last time we got a bit last in them.[:(] well it' s been a while since i lived there.

On Sunday' s it is a favourite for motorbikes as well. Unfortunately a lot go in convoy and get a bit annoyed if you overtake them.

Also (Particularly the section between The West Meon Hut and Winchester) has attracted the boys in blue with their hairdryers, due to complaints from local villagers.

It' s called Newick Lane and goes from Mayfield to just east of Heathfield.

The road from Tunbridge Wells to Heathfield is fun as well, you can stop off in Five Ashes and get a cup of coffee at Paragon and take a look at their selection of late used cars (no connection)

well i shall have to have a drive down soon and investigate...........maybe we could have a gathering at a local pub?

Right, you are on. I will find the pub and see about getting some locals Pcars together. What sort of date would suit?

im booked up untill sept 19-22. so some time that week-end would be good, i can visit all my relations while im there.[8D]

the A339 going from Alton to Basingstoke.

Claims about a bike a week..... They are thinking about parking an ambulance halfway along there [:D]

Used to live at Rake, near Liss and the B3006 through Selborne that you mention is a cracker (and onward from Alton to the M3 near Hook (B3349)).... only a few places to overtake and v bad in winter but in the dry and with a clear road it is great.... there is a really steep hill with some tricky bends, if you know it you can really scare any passenger that hasn' t been in a Porsche before.

The old A32 from Hook to Reading, now the B3349, via Mattingley is another brilliant run but they have recently imposed a 50mph speed limit.

North Warnborough hosts a fast growing bike fest first Wednesday of every month at the Lord Derby pub. Hundreds of m/cycles converge in the early evening attracting traffic cops like wasps round a jampot. any road (M3, B3006, B3349, A30, A287) leading there has a radar trap set-up. Enjoy.....

yes it wasn' t far from ther that my brother was knocked off his bike by a white van and very nearly lost the use of the lower half of his body!!! he broke his back!! and leg. he will have a bad limp for the rest of his life. but is lucky he can walk...........be careful out there boy' s and girl' s.

that was one of the reason' s i agreed to donate all profit' s from the forum badges to the spinal injuries association.

Helen, you are right the 22nd is a Monday, so let' s do the 21st.

Are we riding bikes that day or driving Porsches?

Is this a private party or can we all join in?[;)] We look free onthe 21st as well.

Can I suggest if we are going to have a " meet" , then a seperate thread be posted in the forum solely for that, and leave this one to the nice roads?

Thanks!
