I have fond memories of student days in a '73 Tomato Red 'GT Beetle'. There's definitely something of the same character in a 911, but the driving experience is a little different!
Can vouch for the fact that the SC and 3.2 members are a good bunch (and I'm sure all the others are too but I don't spend much time on other forums).
Steve - interesting site, thanks. That guy's spent some time compiling all that info!
My route into Porsche ownership...
1. '71 VW Beetle 1300 (replaced with mildly tuned 1641cc)
2. '69 VW Type II Devon Conversion (rare 'crossover model' with bay front and sides and 'split screen style' rear window, lights and bumper)
3. BMW 320i (felt like a Porsche after driving a camper!)
4. Present day... '83 911SC Targa and VW Golf TDi (everyday runaround and loadlugger)

I've also seen type 2 vans both split screen and Bay windows with flat 6 porsche engines. Also, a few years ago when I was young and foolish I had a split screen van with a 912 engine in it. Accelerated well with a standard vw gearbox in it!!
