New Year Gathering - Now 4th March, all welcome

Edd, That is not good news, sorry to hear that hope you can get her patched up for tomorrow, I had an old Cavalier once that the power steerring rack was shot to bits, drove it for nearly a yeas like that.....a bit heavy parking etc [:D]

See you all tomorrow! I'm coming up from Brighton this time so I'll be taking the M11 and joining at |Peterborough rather than South Mimms.

Will keep an eye out for you as I'm doing the same! Well, not the Brighton bit but M11.

I have been planning another meet in the summer. It's just a notion at the moment but we were thinking maybe Gaydon. Would anyone else be up for it???
We're going to Gaydon in May......see the Cotswold Rally sticky for details. There's also Silverstone Classic, the National event in August and Frontrunners (in a very different guise this year). Plus the Wales trip. I'm all up for informal meets but will many people want to travel long distances too many times over the Summer? Maybe it's better to do the big events in the busy season and more 944 events in the quiet parts of the year? Just a thought, please don't think I'm trying to force the "Club" in to everything ( for those who remember me trying to get some lfe in to the Heckfield meeting, lol) but just saying that I'll be doing many hundreds of miles and losing a lot of weekends already over the summer and I'm sure many others will be doing the same. It all goes quiet after October and Rutland is the only event until May. [:)]

Paul, The thing is, not all of us can go to the events scheduled even though we want to! I have running no. 6 for Cotswold rally - can't go due to change of date, Wales trip - can't go on the proposed date, Siverstone Classic - on holiday I also remember an earlier thread were we were asked to get out as much as possible this year to celebrate our 30th annivesary so with this in mind I think suggestions should be encourged and supported where possible. The other thing is there are a number of non PCGB members on our side of the forum and with Rutland hopefully becoming a continued annual event it would be good in my opinion to have more of these type of events throughout the year and not just when the weather is dubious

Seems to be the story of my life at the moment, but I agree totally with what you say. [:D] My point is that whether you're a Club member or not, with all the Club events, Tipec events, other events like Silverstone or Le Mans, some months of the year are really busy. Not even counting that many people have holidays in the summer as well, and weddings, barbeques, work does, there's endless things to fill weekends over the summer. I've turned down at least half a dozen really interesting events already this year because I work Saturdays, so every weekend event is a loss of a day's money as well as the travel costs etc. I think it's a real shame we can't get more meets between October and May, that's all. I appreciate that travel might be more difficult with the weather, hence thinking smaller "informal" meets are ideal for the quieter months. More local, easier to arrange at short notice, easier to re-arrange! [:)]

Oh well I suppose brollies are better than snow sock!! Just got to Peterbough, it's been getting wetter all the way up, woke up to a dry day!!

Sorry I can't make it today, we had a relative take ill yesterday so my Wife has had to take her Mum to the hospital so I am having to do kiddy cheuffering duties Hope you have a good one

Great turn out of 944s,what a brilliant register we have! All went too quick, cafe was welcome shelter!! Hope you all had a great lunch at the pub I went home for mine [:)] How many cars turned out anyone count???

Just got out of hospital and havnt got my summer 944 sorted either so missed my favourite event. Hope you all had a great day and lots of nice picies will be forthcoming !. There are loads of classic car shows like that Duxford one through the year but as Duxford is quite local to me I would always selfishly vote yes [8D] Regards Mas

Great to see all the 944's together again, didn't get much nosing time over them though as taking shelter! We really have to get together in the summer [:D] I count 19 from my photo Mark

Blummin good turnout, even better when you consider the weather. Thanks so much for organising the meal Andy, it seemed to go as smooth as it possibly could with such a large number and a few last minute additions, so well done to you and the staff [:)] Food was great too [8D]

I made it 19 too! Really good turnout and a lovely day out, with some great company all in spite of the rain, sleet and snow! Thanks Andy for the organising and too the pub for the good food. Hope everyone gets home safely. Some pics will be available soon!![:)] [link=http://s787.photobucket.com/albums/yy158/A9XXC/944s%20At%20Rutland%202012/]Here - Rutland 2012[/link]

Well that was all rather exciting. Great to meet up with everyone again - a great turn out. I knew I shouldn't have taken the white car, and sure enough it was a complete handful when running well and behaving rather badly when it wasn't. I thought we'd sorted out its wet weather running issues but clearly not - as soon as the throttle was opened it'd go lean then briefly overfuel. Very kindly Paul followed me all the way back (thanks again Paul!), I lost count of the number of times I almost needed pushing off the road... After a while I managed to work out that if I used just the lightest amount of throttle and changed up at 2500rpm then I could prevent it cutting out and just about make reasonable progress. Most terrifying moment was getting stuck in lorry tracks on lane one on the way up - standing water, track tyres and lots of negative camber meant I just had to sit it out till I got control back - eek! Nearly needed a change of underwear after that one.

No problem, I almost go back past you anyway as I turn off and go through Wing. I was following, I had no intention of pushing you! [:D][:D]

Thanks so much for organising the meal Andy,
Seconded. There's enough hassle organising numbers, getting deposits and people's menu choices without having to rearrange the date as well! You did it so well you should volunteer next year. [;)]

Safely home after a fun day out. An entertaining drive, good company and good food; what else could you ask for? Well... some better weather would have been nice but you can't have everything! What a fantastic turnout of cars, particularly considering the conditions. We must all be mad. More like this, please! I'll third, fourth (or whatever it is) the thanks to Andy for doing such a great job organising the event.
