New Turbo S order. Feedback please.

Eric,
Geographical location obviously has an effect on choice. 10mm lower suspension in my neck of the woods would result in a weekly dental appointment and an ongoing order for undertrays with my PC! [:D]

However, I'm glad you've now added the lane change assist - a safety feature that should really be included in the standard specification of a high-value motor car.

If you're anticipating a March car, it will most likely be coming up for lockdown and should be commencing production very soon.

BTW if you're not already a Club member, it would benefit you to join since there'll be some great tours and events coming up once this current crisis ends and sharing experiences with those having similar interests does enhance the ownership experience.

Regards,

Clive

Quick update on delivery times. My PC salesperson said that all current 992 Turbo S orders are for 2022 delivery. Looks like allocations for 2021 are limited so well done to all that got their orders placed in 2020.

Wow. Looks like residuals are going to be decent.

Hi Senna and everyone else. Only my second post, the first in 992 FAQ's.
I think we have sort of spoken on another forum just recently?
Anyway, I was lucky to get my TTS back in October after it arrived much earlier than expected, even turning up at the dealers without their knowledge and still showing on their system for a delivery to them mid November.
On your build, personally I would keep 10mm lowered suspension if you have FAL. I have both and for me it just looks better. I know others have said about the harsh ride, but if you are driving briskly, it feels really good. Some roads will make it feel bad when driving slowly with other traffic, but this is outweighed by when you can have some fun! and I may be in my sixty's, but you are never too old to have fun....the day I don't I'll be in my box!
Others have mentioned about perhaps adding a coloured rev counter and perhaps stitching....yellow would look good and match the PCCB's. I saw a GT3RS recently with this and it looked stunning in my opinion.
Just one other thing, the sports exhaust with tailpipes in silver perhaps? They wouldn't look out of place because of the silver on the wheels.
Obviously, its your choice... and as I know, very difficult at that, with so many options, but if you can see some of these things before reaching a firm decision then I would. I was praying for mine to lock so I couldn't make any further changes......I must have done every conceivable colour with every option known before settling on mine.
Good luck, its so difficult but worth the wait though!!!

Thanks for your response.
I agree with you about the 10mm lowered suspension. I have it on my current 992 C2S Cab and just think it has a much better stance. I actually don't find it too harsh. I've added FAL this time because I do tend to lightly scrape the front lip of my current car from time to time on some of my friends steep drives.

I've been thinking about adding the yellow detail on the rev counter and might just do that if my order is not yet locked down. Not sure about the yellow stitching though as I'd like to keep it as subtle as I can.

I had to be really careful in my M4 coming into my drive so I would imagine the TTS would have scraped without FAL The best thing is that once you have used it in a particular spot such as approaching your driveway, it gives you the option of saving it, so it then remembers that spot and automatically activates next time. Seemed weird the first time it happened as I'd forgotten about it activating.

Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone else is having problems getting delivery info from their dealer.
Ordered a well specified Turbo S back in September from Porsche Centre Hatfield. Original delivery date was touted as March.
Ive been trying to get more info from them over the last few weeks and it’s been like squeezing blood out of a stone.
The finally came back with a reply stating they did not have any info at all about their car allocations.
Are the Porsche factories closed due to COVID? Or a slowdown in production perhaps?
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing a similar situation.
Thanks in advance for any replies :)

I've just heard mine goes into production on 16th Feb. I estimate 6/7 weeks for delivery, so late March/early April. If yours has a similar timescale, your PC should have some updated info for you by now.

Regards,

Clive

Great news Clive, when did you place your order?

Collected my Turbo S on 1st September, done 1,700 miles not a lot I know. for The first 5 miles I wish I’d not ordered with the 10mm lower suspension. In hindsight I wouldn’t order it. My daily is a Taycan, air suspension my have a lot to do with it

I spoke to Hatfield last Monday (a week ago) and they were still non the wiser with their Turbo S allocations.
I even went so far as to ring Porsche GB who were very polite but referred me back to my dealer.
I will give them another call tomorrow.

Congrats by the way Clive, well done.
May I ask when you placed your order?
Also where did you order the car from?

Hi Eric,
From what you have said, your March delivery doesn't sound very promising. I think I would be inclined to press for more info and whether you are first or further down in the list's pecking order. Currently cars seemed to be in very short supply.

My situation is not completely straightforward. I was first offered a slot by Mayfair back in March last year. I believe it's the same group as Hatfield (Porsche Retail). However, when lockdown came about I cancelled the order. Later I re-ordered with Bristol (July), but specifically for a March this year delivery as I was hopeful it would all be over by then - how wrong was I? [&:]

My younger daughter, Laura gets married in May (postponed from last year) and I promised she would be driven to the church in a new Porsche - so whilst I have a bit a of breathing space, I am hopeful it will be arriving late March or early April. It seems to be on course atm. [:)]

Clive

Hi Clive,
That's great news for Laura. Looks like your dates will work.

I think I mentioned earlier I was offered someone else's cancelled order in December.
Not quite the spec I was looking for and in some ways I'm glad I cancelled because the car would have sat here doing nothing for several months.

I spoke to Hatfield this morning and they tell me an order they had in July has just been allocated a build date with a projected delivery date during March.
That order was placed in July.

Apparently my order is next in line so the next allocation which arrives will be for me.

In all honestly April delivery will be fine. Weather will be better and hopefully a lot of Covid travel restrictions should be lifted by then due to the high roll out in vaccination numbers.

Fingers crossed :)

Very pleased to hear you now have some clarification on your order and I hope the forum input has been helpful to you. [:)]

Definitely has without doubt. Nothing like talking to people in the same boat.
First world problems lol

It seems not all supercars are in short supply.

I've just received an email from a McLaren dealer telling me he has a plentiful supply of GT models in various colours and at discounted prices! [;)]

Haha, I got a call last week. Also from Aston Martin.
Porsche have taken a lesson out of the Rolex book. Keep 'em hungry and the demand will increase. :ROFLMAO:

So had a feb 2021 allocation 992 completed 1st March ... then quiet For 2 weeks .. then Porsche tracking system changed to on vessel for a week .. so Should of been at the OPC by now but still showing on vessel !!! And the dealership no idea where it’s at .. frustrating is an understatement

Mine was reported to be on its way to the dock, then loaded on board, then in transit and suddenly it turned up at the Centre - all within about a week!
So yours might well be imminent. [;)]

Regards,

Clive

Possibly .. just amazes me it’s taking 3 weeks plus to get to the dealership after completion . More frustrating because They arent cheap cars expected more

A brave request on this forum! [:D] Let me wade in with my 2 penneth.
  • PASM comes as standard and it's a stiffy anyway - so do you really need a car with 10mm lower sports suspension? Regards,
Clive,

Interestingly if you tick the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) incl. ride height lowered by 10mm for a Cayman GTS 4.0 it actually means that the car is 10mm higher than a standard car without the option and not, as it implies, 10mm lower than standard.....

If you read the option in detail (for a Cayman GTS) it says For slightly added driving comfort and ground clearance, the standard "PASM sports suspension (20 mm lowered”) is replaced with "Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) incl. ride height lowered by 10 mm” for no extra charge. With this option the ride height of the GTS 4.0 models rises compared to the standard set-up.

Really odd that its different for a 992 .....
