911 c2 or c4 carrera 3.6L and a 911 Carrera 964 3.2L ??
If so whats the benefits of each? is there a buying guide somewhere?? moneys burning a hole £15k ish what will I get best for the money? any help much appreaciated...

The 964 was only made as a 3.6L. The 3.2L Carrera came to the end of production in 1989, but the 964 C4 was first produced in early 1989 too, so a bit of an overlap to sell the old stock etc. For 15K you should be able to get a very nice LHD 964. There is not much difference between the C2 & the C4 (I've owned both!), but I do prefer the C2. C4 better in adverse weather. C2 oversteers more readily & the C4 understeers a bit more, but neither are pigs to drive! C2 is ligher & thus a bit faster - I noticed the difference straight away after swapping my C4 for a C2.

Good luck!

Thanks for that!! Idont really want a lefty, what will nice right hander cost for a C2? I keep being told i dont need to worry about mileage is this true?

Buy on condition alone. Mileage isn't a problem if they've been well looked after. Some see a low mileage car that's not been run that often as more of a cause for concern in that seals may have dried out, lots of short trips etc. For a decent RHD 964 you'll be looking at 18K+ If you do look at a high mileage, look to see if it's had an engine rebuild, if not, try to build the price of having this done into your offer - normally cost upwards of 6K to do!! Make sure you get an experienced mechanic who knows 964's to look it over for you. An engine & leakdown test should give you an idea on how good then engine is. Where are you based? Someone will be able to reommend a reputable shop which could give any car a once over for you before you hand over the readies. This normally costs around £150. If the the seller won't let you have an inspection done, then walk away.

If you've not alreay cheked it out, have a look on the 964 forum at www.rennlist.com More active than this & plenty of UK owners will chime in to help!!

If you want to know the ins and outs of a 964 without feeling you need to buy one try Roly at Eporsch www.eporsch.co.uk or 01932 569844 , 07834 603020. Bought all my 964's from / through him. Also sometimes has very nice ones for 15k.

Good Luck
