New to Porsche and new to the forum, quick question too.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself and ask a question.

I'm Stuart, I live in East Sussex a few miles from Paragon Porsche.

I recently purchased my first Porsche, its a 981 Cayman GTS in Agate Grey, really happy with it.

My question is how to change the H7 additional main beam bulb? Getting the lights out was really easy, however I have removed the circular cover and cant work out how to remove the H7. Obviously I don't want to break anything, so thought I'd ask here.

Are you looking to swap for LED or simply needing to replace a bulb.... reason for asking.....

Going out on a limb here since I am not that familiar with the 981 GTS lighting setup - but I "though" that it came with Bi_xenons/PDLS.... if so then ( if its the same as my 987.2 with PDLS) the "additional headlight" is simply a mechanism to provide "instant" hi beam - rather than the xenon warmup - so when you flash your lights you get instant lighting.....

As such - ( assuming I am correct, and of course - it's your car, your choice ) - if that is the case - is it worth the effort/complication of the swap given your actual main beam is xenon?

If you are going ahead then a general word of warning about anything with plastic tabs on a porsche - they are made of suicide plastic and will break at the least provocation - so if you find you need to release anything - then gentle warming with a hairdryer will help prevent disappointment.

Thanks for the welcome.

Just a bulb replacement. You are right in the GTS there is the bi-xenon/PDLS at the top of the light unit and below that there is a h7 bulb which works together with the bi-xenon when selecting high beam.

Really appreciate the warning, the space in there is really tight and I don't want to break anything.
