Just picked up yesterday a mint condition 944 Turbo S that I was successful in bidding on at Anglia Classic Car Auction on Sunday. it really is as good (in fact better) than it looks, drove like a dream from Kings Lynn back to Cheltenham and the 3.5 hour journey gave me a good chance to get to know it. Anyone know anything about the car, I have two bags of paperwork which I will work my way through over the weekend but its owner was clearly an avid club member judging by the region, pcgb and 944 register stickers in the window. Would be great to hear more about the car, or even link up withe the owner - thank you for selling it to via the auction, hope you were happy with the result. Thanks best John. Reg is G851 XPL, pics attached.

Hi John, I’ve taken a look at the 944 member database and the only result for the registration number is you joining the club yesterday. I don’t have access to the Region 12 membership database so you’d have to contact the RO for that region.
Welcome to the club - it certainly looks a great example!

Looks a very tidy car, brings back memories ,we had an S2 in exactly the same colour and interior leather In the late 1990’s.
A classic design that still looks very stylish and now a modern classic.
Enjoy the car.

Hi John, looks interesting especially if you live in Cheltenham. I live near Tewkesbury. I've got a white 88 Turbo S ,chassis No JN10164X which is right in the middle of the RHD Silver Rose chassis numbers. I've got a mate who lives near Broadway with a red one with a chassis number about 20 away from mine and I know a guy from years ago lives in the Lake District, who has a black one with again a close number. PM me if you fancy a meet

Can a white and red 944 Turbo S have chassis numbers right in the middle of the first run of 1000 or so Silver Rose cars?I've got a white 88 Turbo S ,chassis No JN10164X which is right in the middle of the RHD Silver Rose chassis numbers. Car looks great! Quick search of the number plate and this popped up from 2012.
Includes a link to a previous listing for it but I'm struggling to find a viewable version of the listing.

G is 1/8/89 to 1990 so it would be an "SE", mk 2 turbo or just a 250 turbo, call it what you like. The turbo S were 88 so late E and early F so unless it was languishing in a dealer it's unlikely to be an S. Only way to tell is to check the vin against the list.
However none of that really matters, it looks great, I like the 924 turbo vents.

It’s Jim in the Lakes with the Black one. There’s a Silver Rose one, Red one and a White one that I all know of up here in the North East, alongside my Zermatt Silver one - all genuine Turbo S’s’s’s

I wonder if that red one is the turbo S I almost bought 15 or 16 years ago. It had been featured in a Porsche magazine and a couple of brothers named Rogers had owned it. Promax told me about it, and I think I saw it near Milton Keynes. It had 17" cups and big red brakes, plus some Lindsey Racing engine parts.

Sellers do like to call any 250 bhp car a Turbo S. And I remember when calling a rhd turbo a 952 would light the blue touch paper of one member on hereG is 1/8/89 to 1990 so it would be an "SE", mk 2 turbo or just a 250 turbo, call it what you like.
