New MOT requirements

If your car was specified OEM Airbags, and you've replaced the steering wheel with a non airbag product, the new MOT rules will fail the car.

(Not important for my race car, but on my road 993, it becomes an issue)

BTW I've posted this on the 993 forum but the 993 boys are a lot less chatty than you 944 guys.

We are chatty all right. In Canada, annual vehicle inspections are up to the Provinces so only a few require an inspection on personal vehicles. Mostly this occurs when you shop for insurance at a lower rate - a new carrier often requires an independent inspection prior to insuring your car. Safety items and "modified for performance" are two tick boxes they are particularly interested in.

I have a 1991 S2 ROW vehicle that was delivered to Japan. I have no air bags although at least a driver's side was made standard in 1991 according to most literature. Driver air bag at least showed up on most higher end cars in North America in 1991 also (e.g. Nissan Maxima).

I haven't had any questions yet but I wouldn't be surprised if mandatory inspections are instituted that I will have to come up with some sort of document to get past this. Even my 1991 car required Day Time Running Lights to be implemented in order to import it to Canada even though these were not required until late 90s.
