Well i have now hit 45 and am looking to fufill a dream of mine since I started driving.
So I am on the search for a 944 lux.
Sadly my budget for this weekend toy is very minimal and I know the way to buy is to buy the best one available but on my limited funds that is not going to be the case.
I have put my old kawasaki zzr up for sale to part fund the 944 dream.
I have chose the 944 mainly on ease of maintenance (I currently drive a volvo 940 turbo estate!!) and looks.
Personally I would prefer a standard unmolested vehicle and much prefer the original alloys to the later boxster type. I also like the metallic silvers, gold and burgundy colours as they are more subtle than red or white.
If anyone is selling such a vehicle even if it is need slight maintenance or repair but is runningplease contact me.
Also please note I live in Cumbria which is as far north as you can get without falling into Scotland so travelling can become an issue.

Thanks all
Sean

Hi Sean and welcome.
944s are great cars in all their different guises!
The people who own them seem to be pretty good too.
Don't worry about being in Cumbria, there are a couple of regular forum users up there and loads in Scotland too.
Good luck with your search.

Sean, welcome to the forum and good luck with your search there will plenty of help here if you need.

Hope your dream comes true...

PS. Black is best [;)]

Is this a private joke or are you going to share it?

Sean
Ummm, there is a chap on here called Alasdair (login is sulzeruk), based a little way outside Edinburgh, who is an excellent 944 mechanic and often has cars he has repaired and restored for sale. His prices are keen and his workmanship excellent by all accounts ...

... I'm sure he'll happen across this thread very soon! [;)]

Oli.

Sean,
I am in West Cumbria and know of a 90 944 S2, which has been stood for a while, i have not seen it but believe it needs 2 front tyres, battery and a clip on the throttle cable (no big deal) also the immoboliser plays up some times.
It has been advertised at £1200, but some haggling would see a grand.
If the car was sound and only needed the above then fixing it up plus belts if there is no history of the last change £1500 would see a good late model 944 S2 on your drive.
Not sure what your budget is ?
Should you wish to view it i will get the contact details and accompany you and give you a decent apparaisal, and tell you to walk should it turn out to be the case.
Private Mail (PM) me should you require a chat and leave your number if you want to have a natter.
Cheers Jim.

Sean, do you want me to get hold of the contact number for you ?
What part of Cumbria do you live ? the car is in the West (Egremont)

Sean - I'd definitely take Frenchy up on his offer, even if that one is not for you, you can learn LOADS from him and he's a good guy. [:)]

Mike,

Flattery gets you everywhere ! [:D]

I have contacted Sean and gave him my number, the car in question is half an hour away, though i do not know it ? previous owner has passed away and is being sold by his family now i believe.
I need to have a good chat with you sometime, as i am aware that i rushed off after a brief conversation at Silverstone last year, which left me feeling guilty, but track laps were imminent.

Would be great to have another active 944 owner in this area, we are thin on the ground !
A matey has a very sound/sorted late 944 S2 which he would part with as he has a hankering for a 928 but he is after 3k plus and it is worth every penny, possibly out of Seans budget but wants for nothing and has had a recent glass out full quality respray in guards.

Personally I would take Jim up on his offer of help. He's a good guy and knows what to look for ,Although I must say his bacon cooking skills are up there with Gordon Ramsey.

Oli have not seen the 1.2k one could be and probably will be [:'(], but the S2 that Jim Gunning has at 3 and a bit is worth more IMO, very clean with everything sorted, no rot but due belts.
I have seriously thought about letting my 86 Turbo go and buying it.

Mine was 1200 quid less than 6 months ago with an mot and respray .spent 300 replacing old gear linkage and just drive it now .1983 2.5 lux square dash basic no turbo or extras to go wrong ! My modern diesel car is faster but its a porsche ..nuff said !

Greetings Sean from another fellow (West) Cumbrian 944 owner........ mine gets used and abused on a daily basis... the commute to work has never been as much fun since I got my 944 3 years ago.... [:)]

If you need a hand looking at possible purchases Frenchy is your man.

Frenchy - Yes our Silverstone meeting was far too short! But there is always so much to do and look at there.

I'd love to have a proper chat and a good look at you car.

Sometime!!!

Fiend - I knew someone else was from "up there" but I couldn't remember your name!
