hello

so we all know how rubbish 993 headlights and now i have an excellent excuse to change them - one of them has broken from a motorway stone chip.

what are peoples thoughts on the best and most cost effective option. want to get the whole new unit / seals etc and want something that lets me see where i'm going at night. is zenons the answer?

is it a case of changing the whole casing / lens or just the bulb etc.

any advice gratefully received.

thanks, keith

You can still buy the entire OEM Porsche Xenon kit which will give you the headlamp casings etc - you can get them from Gert Carnewal in Belgium - for loads of money (from memory over 2000 euros).

But modern self fit (or indie-fit) kits are less then 200 pounds and (with latest electronics) are probably better. However they just replace the H1 bulbs in the existing headlamp units (and add the electronics). Personally I'd go this way. Just buy a replacement unit to fix you broken glass (or perhaps just the front glass part - probably available as it removes for cleaning inside). Buy new seals, buy a self fit kit for the Xenon. They are easy to fit - there is a guide in the "technical articles" inside the 993 forum.
