Hi there,

I have a 2002 996 targa and need to get front/rear discs and pads. I do not race and want to keep the car reasonably stock. My garage is recommending Sebro discs and textar pads (and new sensors and shims).

Is the above good? Or should I be considering something else eg Brembo.

many thanks

andrew

They're all OEM suppliers and suggest you speak to member Matt (www.type911.co.uk) for more advice on the differences.

Discs and pads are relatively simple DIY job, so you may want to save on the labour and upgrade on the parts

Just DIY'd a set of discs and pads on the rear of my 987.2 Boxster, much the same brake design as your car.
I installed Brembo discs and pads, simple job and the opportunity to tweak the handbrake setting.

Braking is good it feels to me, the ones that came off were the original brakes, 87K miles old, down to 3mm pad thickness.
Car is a simple road touring use car.

Hi Andrew,

Your garage’s recommendation for Textar pads and Sebro discs is fine. I believe that Textar are Porsche’s pad supplier anyway, although Porsche parts will have a dedicated part number, so the OEM part should have the same or a very similar spec. I think Porsche has a unique disc supplier, but Sebro are a well-established and reliable OEM supplier.
