I have 997 Turbo 6 pots and 350mm discs fitted to my car. The rotors are full of cracks some over 10mm long. I don't want to buy more of these Porsche discs, which do not last 5 minutes when used for track days. So advice needed for quality replacements please.

Was looking closely at my ceramics last weekend when my wheels were off. Even with 10,000 miles on them they look brand spanking new!

Geoff as you know I have PCCBs on my car which has done 12 track days. The discs are fine but the pads wear very quickly (especially the rears) and struggle to last a season of track days. I think Porsche must have made the pads a little softer to protect the discs which are much more expensive to replace. I have resisted the temptaion to go to Pagid Yellow RS-29s which most of the "Trackies" with PCCBs use as I use my car more on the road than the track and I dont want extra squeel or problems when the brakes are cold. Overall I would say my PCCBs are brilliant and I have no regrets specking them. If ever I have another new Porsche I would spec them again as they inspire great confidence. The brakes are a highlight of the car as far as I am concerned.
I am sure if you did a search on the GT3 section you would see the various options for discs suitable for track days. The guys using floating discs seem to complain about noise when on the road. There doesnt seem to be an option that is good for both track and road use and there has to be a compromise in there somewhere. What pads are you using? It seems if you use pads that can take the heat of track days you put extra wear onto the discs
What we need is for somone like Alex to research and write up all the disc and pad options for both steel and ceramic brakes. I think you are probably like me and want an option that is good on the road but can take track days better than the standard pads and discs

Currently using Pagid yellow pads and high temp blue brake fluid, which are fine. Would be interested to go floating discs like Performance Friction or Alcan. Any experience anyone?
Try the GT3 boys, Geoff. Had a long chat with Alex D (register sec.)at Castle Combe last weekend about brakes. He know a fair bit about the options.
I'm interested to see how my steels hold up after a few more track days. Obviously(!!) no problem after the first one (touching lots of wood) but will be keeping a close eye on them with a view to change if they start playing up. And then we start down the warranty debate road again..............yawn![

Unfortunately the GT3 boys will not be as helpful as I'm sure they would like. GT2/3 brake rotors have a different mounting bell offset to standard 997 and Turbo. So their equipment will not readily fit my car without machining calipers. Bit of a bodge, which some have resorted to, to fit GT3 brakes to 997S.
I have had a chat with Performance Friction but they only make rotors for the GT cars at present.[

Brembo have introduced floating rotors to fit standard 997, 330mm diameter but as yet not for turbo 350mm. Price for 330mm ones is 1400Euros!!!

Geoff try AP Racing they may be able to suggest a solution.

Ah yes, already looked at AP Racing site. They do a 355mm and 380mm floating disc BUT both are only for GT3RSR fitment.
