New Boxster 986S Owner

Hello!
I just wanted to say hello to other Boxster owners on here.

I have just purchased a one owner from new 59000 mile 2000MY Boxster S. I have been a member before when I had a really nice 924 (SHR 606Y - if anyone knows if that car is around?) but that was a few years back. I am in R14 but happy to attend events all over the place. I am planning to go to the 9Werks Mid Engine event at Porsche Bournemouth in May.

So far so good with the Boxster apart from a faulty fuel sender which has left me 'embarrassingly' at the roadside once with no fuel. Despite showing a 1/4 tank. A new sender has been acquired which will soon be fitted. Also my spare key doesn't seem to work even with a new battery, so I need to look into that.

I must also remember to buy some sun cream because I forgot how burnt you get driving around with the roof down! even in our climate.. :ROFLMAO:

Great day to collect a Boxster! Exciting as well. I collected mine last week and managed roof down for a few hours on the drive home. I loved every minute of it.

I have an Alfa Giulietta too!

Tell me about it.. I have already bought a 1/43 model which is exactly the same as my car. I have also bought an original Porsche compact umbrella in its case, to go in the passenger side cubby. The original was missing... I've got my eye on the Porsche air vent cup holders now! This is going to get expensive!!

2004 must be one of the last before it became a 987.

As a newbie I think I have scared myself a bit reading all the forums about what can go wrong but much of it I have been told is nonsense. I bought from a reputable specialist and a local Indie has given mine the thumbs up and set my mind at rest on a few issues, so fingers crossed I bought well.

ooh where did you find a brolly?

I'm a sucker for branded car accessories....

 
A lucky find on ebay which someone else had originally bought for their 996.

You can get repro cases which look identical (and look great quality) but they don't have the Porsche branded pop stud, which the original has. The umbrellas are fairly common on ebay, the original case is much harder to find.

 
I am delighted to read some posts from "grass roots" Boxster owners. I have grown tired of the amount of "willy-waggling"among owners and prospective owners of top-of-the-line Boxsters and Caymans which usually occupies this section of the forum, which, while it may have a place, is of little interest to me. I am reminded that it was reputedly model "snobbery" which gave rise to the birth of TIPEC and I am now wondering if there should be a "Classic" Boxster and Cayman section on this forum in line with Porsche AG's definition of "Classic". Taking cover immediately! I love them all really./[;)]

Hi..

Well, I just like all Porsches really. Always loved them, 930, 3.2 Speedster and 959 were my poster cars. First ever car I drove was a 964 when I was an apprentice at a Car dealer. Only around the site mind but it stuck in my memory. Had a few front engine models over the years (2 x 924 & 944) but always pined for a 911, Cayman or Boxster. I have had new BMW's, Merc's, Audi's, Alfa Romeos and a Range Rover Sport but the Porsche bug was still biting me. So this year I started looking seriously and went for it.

Rather than go 'flash' I wanted to go classic and well, pure. So picked up my excellent very early S which is completely original (with fried eggs and all) and from its first any only owner before me. It even smells new.

Interesting about having a classic section. I have joined the Porsche Classic Scheme via Porsche Centre Swindon, who were very helpful. Lets see what that brings.

If I had the cash I would have a GT3 or a GT4 as a daily but while the mortgage, kids and property bleed me dry, I just take pleasure from at last having a 'classic' car I have always wanted and one I can say is all mine and paid for.

The great thing about Porsche is the community and the choice of great cars at all levels.

 
Welcome to this forum and your intro of you and the car.

I've had my 987.2 since March 2016.

Had a few bumps along the way, but have have lots of support from this section of the Club forum.

Always worth asking about things on here.
