New Battery 997 Turbo

I replaced my battery on my Gen 1 997 Turbo today - the battery wasn't holding its charge and was causing lazy starts - I had charged up prior to a 300 mile round trip - left it 5 days and it was as flat as a pancake so a new battery it was. I went for a top end battery Yuasa with a life time guarantee - it now starts with no lazy turn over but the PSM and PASM warning lights have come on - is this normal when fitting a new battery - I have had a short spin and the warning lights have all gone out - just wondered if this was normal?
 
Yes, mine did exactly that when I had my battery replaced. There are some details on page 216 of the drivers manual describing how to clear the lights. It involves performing some steering movements to the left and right with the engine running, followed by a short drive.

Sounds like your drive cleared it so no probs.

Hi Rob Did not realise you could buy a battery with lifelong guarantee.
If you dont mind me asking what sort of price are they ?

I bought it from Halfords - its a Yuasa Black Battery (Black is the range not just the colour!) and they assure its good for 130,000 starts and therefore offer a lifelong guarantee for the vehicle that it is originally fitted to which is a transferable guarantee. The off the shelf price is £145 for the battery for a 911 however I have a Halfords trade card so it cost me £116 all in. No lazy starts now .
 
I also replaced a MOLL with a higher spec'd Bosch. Much better starting characteristics. 5 year guarantee, £100 from euro car parts. Has drain pipe holes as MOLL etc. Had same initial warning light issues but followed handbook instructions.
 
Thanks Robb sounds good .Batteries dont last very long on my KN .
Will try a for life next time i get probs .Keeping a trickle charger on the
current battery (Bosch ) seems to have helped its life .
