Porsche are out of near side sills and don't know when new ones will be available.

If you have one I would be very interested to hear from you.

I looked at a repair sill copies on Ebay but they are much more curved than the one on my car so it doesn't line up with the fron wing properly.

Does any one know where I can get a good copy from?

the one I used was a copy and it was the same, you just need to ensure that your bodyshop man is competant, have a look at my thread I started about ebay sills.

James :)

elliot is doing very decent repair pnels at the minute. Have seen them for myself and they look to be very good.

Try Andy at promax as he was able to get me a floor when Porsche had none in stock. He carries a stock of panels also try some of the other specialists guys like Bert or if you are really stuck then Autoatlanta in the good old US of A.

David in your case and looking at your job in hand I would say you definately need a proper whole sill .A repair panel will not give you the parts of the panel that you need.

Thanks Colin.

I looked at a repair panel, wrong shaped curve and didn't have the right shape underneath.
Looked hard to fit too.

Drivers side on order just need the passenger side.

Colin,

I called him several times today but no answer.

I am making progress welding the passenger side sub frame area on my car.

Found more bits needed doing than I first thought.

Should be ready for the sill on the passenger side by the weekend.

Will move to drivers side while I source passenger side sill.

My welding won't win any beauty contests but it seems strong which is the main thing.

Did you use anti spatter spray?

No I never use anti splatter.Just weld neat and tidy and make sure you are getting good penetration and remember to dress your welds and prime them as soon as it cools down.Use a buff pad on a grinder to dress the welds.

Do I need to grind the welds down omediately for a particular reason? Do I need to do this just for neatness or some other reason?

Yeh stell will always corrode around the welds quicker than anywhere else.So if you grind them down as go and prime them with a good zinc primer then you are reducing the chances of rust getting in and getting a hold.

Ho did you join the outer sill to the rest of the body?
I can see how to weld the top and bottom with plug welds as we discussed but how did you weld the join shown in the attached picture?

I take it thats the joint at the door lock end of the sill.If you grinf off the paint you will find spot welds holding the two panels together.Drill them out and separate the two panels and then open the drilled holes up to 6mm and plug weld the new sill in place.
