My new turbo

Guest

New member
I was ment to pick it up earlier in the week but it was too wide for the trailer so got it home this afternoon, was rather dusty but after a rather quick wash its come up pretty nice.

Just gotta get it up in the air and go through it now, new belts, engine mount, discs, pads and the gearbox, think thats all that needs doing for now.

So anyway... yeah my first turbo.

Looks very nice after the wash. What year model and why so dusty? Is it stock or any mods.
Good luck. Lot's of good advice on here for you too.

Oh no black! Still, you'll become an expert at polishing......don't I just know it.

Congratulations, I hope you have a lot of fun together.

Thanks for the nice words people, and im sure im gonna have fun keeping sorry trying... to keep it clean but it does look rather mean i think.

At the moment its just stock, apart from the Cup 2 alloys, but it does have a few options from new as ive got the original options list on it. Its got a LSD too, or it did have, Will have to see what the gearbox looks like when it comes out.

Its a '87, the reason it was so dusty was because the firm took it as part ex and the day before the chap was ment to bring it in the gearbox went, and rather foolishly drove it there in 3rd. They didnt do anything with it so its just been stood about 2 months i think in their building so its just gathered dust.

Pleanty of problems and help will be required soon im sure!

Whats and when is frontrunner? Id like to get to a couple of shows although the turbo wont be ready for a couple of months yet, hopefully i can catch some of the shows this season though.

edit: It also has a PCGB sticker on the front screen so perhaps it might have even been on here at some point, although its had countless different private plates on it

Whats and when is frontrunner?
Frontrunner is a front engined day organised by Paul Hedges (924 Reg. Sec.) it is on April 1st so I guess you won't have the Turbo back on the road that soon.

cup 3 then? [8|]

certainly dont see it being done for april! lol but hopefully ill be able to attend a good few.

Is there a calender anywhere or will i have to join the club first?

The best place for the major events is the Club magazine, but I will be posting details of the two National events as soon as I get a minute to work out some details.

Most stuff is open to non-members to visit, but things like display areas and parade laps are members only.

Looks really nice - welcome to the world of the Turbo [:)]

And yes they are Cup 3 alloys - have some myself.

On the subject of Frontrunner - is anyone who is attending planning to start at Cornbury House or is there a move afoot to go direct to Porscheshop ? Would like to attend just trying to gauge the best place to head for - Gloucestershire is a bit of a trek for me but will give that a go if everyone else is heading there...

Nice looking car [8D]

I don't think I've ever seen a RHD 944 with an airbag [&:]

Maybe most of us brits are too tight to pay for them? as its on the options list/print out [:)] guess that and a LSD must have whacked the price up abit! defiantly expensive car when our cars were new! compared to my capri costing 5K new!

Car looks great Andy, love the deep dish tele's and colour. Have to say it looks good pretty unmolested with orange indicators and standard mirrors, etc. Hope you enjoy it over the coming years.

Nice one Andy, glad you got one mate worth the wait I'am sure
Give the handbrake plug a wiggle, mine comes and goes - a wiggle sorts it!

There is a post the rises with the hadnbrake. Mine gets stuck in the guide so if I poke it it pops up (ooo er) and then it works for a while before it gets stuck again. Haven't had time or the inclination to sort it properly.

Very nice looking car there Andy [:)] Welcome indeed to the madness of booooost, those early Turbos are lovely cars !
