My new 944.

I managed to go 2 years without one (since my last lux was cruelly written off by a van driver) and I've succumbed to another.

There are a few cosmetic issues but considering he/she is 27 year old Im happy. Only 95k miles too.

I just thought I would share a few photos.

Im really tempted to remove the sills as it bugs me that they may have only been put on to hide some rust. Its sort of 'the better the devil you know' [&:]

He/she has been living down london, lincoln and manchester in the past.

Maybe put a camera down the inside and see what the sills are like from the inside

Very nice and welcome back ! i would personally loose the sill covers they are not my cup of tea.

Its a normal sunroof model. I agree about the sills. I'm sort of scared to get them took off. [&:]

I'm not sure but I've seen them on a few 944s. The cynic in me thinks "why bother" and if someone did bother then what are they hiding?

They stick out too far. It makes getting out of the car too much of a stretch, made worse by the fact you sit so low down.

Sill covers were available as an option, and are in PU, however most seem to be fibreglass replicas fitted to hide repaired sills.

I know mine were bought the same month as sill repairs were carried out!

They do make it more difficult to get into and out of, especially for my wife who is not tall!

I quite like them, but probably wouldn't fit them to another.

Thwy were an early (series one only) dealer fitted option I believe, but I have seen a few 1986 cars which have had them and the so-called toast rack rear valance too. I owned a 1985 car a long time ago which had both from new and, from memory, the valance was ABS and the sills were GRP.

Them sills look very impressive A9XXC. They look like they belong to the car as they look like they have been professionally fitted. Mine are not sprayed the same shade . possibly done with rattle cans. I'm going to bite the bullet and get them took off. Apparently they are just bonded on. I presume its a case of getting the hairdryer out??
