Thats a cracking car you got there....Well done... Early cars getting scarce which is a pity ...Even a relatively minor failure means a good useable car is often broken up , raped and pillaged ..... ..Now would be a good time to do as Paul recommends and treat the sills and wheelarches that way she will last well into the future. The belts being done is a big bonus.....!

I always love to see a 944 in among the usual day to day traffic ......... Be prepared for admiring glances ...!

Will be there and I am glad you guys seem to think I have a gd car I will see about get the body work treated not sure where but will do it sooner the better
 
Welcome to the forum. For bodywork I can recommend somewhere whom i've used (and Ed) based in Derby so not too far from you. Havn't got my phone handy at the moment but will supply the details shortly.

Congrats enjoy, definitely get those belts done and the cam chain slipper tensioner which is not a service item and when worn can cause a lot of expensive damage to the camshaft drive teeth (x2) it is an easy job do not scrimp get it changed if not already done.
Those rear seats look as though they are leather which if so is quite rare, try Sulzeruk, Elliot, for carpets who frequent this forum, then James Eaton (Only 9) Simon Butterworth at Porsch a Part and good old E Bay.

if you need bits for doing the belts euro car parts at Maybury Edin will normally give the online discounted price over the counter or better if you ask nicely.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I checked out the parts prices online for belts etc then got a quote from my local independent garage who have looked after my BMW for many years and I thought they were quite reasonable so I'm dropping the car off with him tonight, hope I've done the right thing!

The rear seats are indeed leather and don't look like they've had much use, not sure how long that will last as my kids love the car and want to be in it all the time. The sills don't look too bad to my less than knowledgeable eyes, no corrosion externally, some inside while taking photos with my phone but not enough to worry me.

Hope to be out on the road at the weekend with the new belts!

Thanks for the tip, I see the 1 in the middle now that you mention it. I took the car in for the belts an hour ago so no going back now!

Didn't get started unfortunately, he didn't have the flywheel lock and tried to make something up to do it but failed.

That's the one, the wing isn't too bad and is low on my list of jobs especially as this weeks weather has shown that the water leak is definitely still there!
