Hello Everyone,

Wonder if you can help.

Ive got a few problems with my car (minor luckily) and would appreciate any advice.

1.0 The central locking does not open from the passanger door..is this normal. Also the door handles stick back when you open them, it might just be wear and tear but i'm sure it's not right.

2.0 My glove box arm has broken, I wondered if there is a glove box kit you could buy or perhaps one of you has one laying around that you could sell me. This IS wear and tear as my immobiliser is in here and after 150,000 miles I guess it's been opened quite a bit!

3.0 The interior heater is stuck on hot, even when it's set to zero it is still blowing out hot air.....which is fine in the winter and if I didn't have the following problem.

4.0 The arm on the sunroof has broken off, not the arm itself but I think it's the pin which holds it together. I seem to remember having this kind of trouble with my 944 roof. They are quite diffecult to remove and replace...is this a common problem and does anyone know where I can get a replacement pin.

5.0 Underneath the front of the car there is a guard which is hanging off (sorry for the lack of technical knowledge). I suspect it's just lost it's fixings....any ideas would help.

That's it, hope you can help as i'd like to be in tip top condition for the porsche festival.

All the best, hope you are all enjoying your cars! [;)]

There is a repair kit for the glove box arms available from Type 911 or Prestidge Parts - see ad's in 911 world and probably the club mag'.
The sunroof arm problem is proably caused by a broken cog these are about £4 each from Porsche so buy two and replace both as if one is broken then the other is carrying the full load.
The heater controls are electronic I believe so ask a local non-franchised repairer ( cheaper than OPC ), if I knew what area you were in I may know of someone but ask other members around your area.

Heater probably likely to be the water valve, probably stuck open, a known weak spot on these. It is at the front off side of the engine, just below and behind the distributor.

On 944's heater stuck on hot is usually 90p plastic clip beside the glove box - remove liner for access.

Sticking door handles is an easy one, spray lots of WD40 into the 'trigger' and keep working it, it will eventually loosen up. Once it's working again, spray something more substantial like spray grease into the trigger to protect it.

Is the guard the engine under-tray? It's a big square plastic thing under the engine, and should be easy to bolt up again, unless it's been damaged.
