My 944

Got a few more bits done on the car today, fitted aftermarket central locking system these kits are great and cheap (dont buy the really cheap ones from eBay) they should cost about £10 each for good quality ones.

Painted the battery tray with stone chip as it was looking a little tired (sorry dont have an after pic yet).

also can sum one please tell me what this wire is for that I found cut in the door, I suspect its for the wing mirrors, are the mirrors electric tilt and heated in a 1982 944?

Got some pretty cool plans for the dash including removing completely the heating controller and putting an electric version in (not for the purists), will keep you guys posted. Also any anyone fitted air con to a non air con 944 before and if so how hard was it?
 
944 mirrors are indeed tilt/heated electrically. Actually I have found that Hammerite Smoothrite red is a fair to middling match for guards red. I used it on an old 924 cill and really you couldn't tell.
 
As you will probably know by now that is not an original front, it seems to have been fitted with a S2 look-alike body kit, and not for purists but it doesn't look too terrible. The chunky look of the series one front was not my cup of tea, but it is all a matter of taste. It is a shame to see a 944 hacked about in such a way but to some people they are just a means to an end and you are no-one if you do not have banging sounds. I put some 6 X 8's in the rear of my 924 but used the original orifice, enlarged to suit.
 
Han't even looked at the bumper but your right it looks like a cheap knock off, I hate knock off parts so its gonna go, what would i need to bolt on an original s2 front end? is it just a case of changing the wings and front bumper? I wonder if the lights in mine are genuine and would swap over.
 
Series one and series two had the same 'front'. [:D] With one eye on the future Steve, I wouldnt mess about with the dash. A 1982 944 isnt a common car. The 951 front is slightly unusual in that it appears to use a faithful replica of a Turbo PU, meaning that the wings arent original either, but Id still avoid radically altering the dash, if it was my car.
 
Just noticed the rear wiper is parked horizontally too which looks unusual to me. Interesting that someone would change the bumper and wings but maintain the period radio aerial in the wing. Looks like a car with a few curiosities and interior things to fix but worth considering maintaining an original look for this early car. Mick
 
I was thinking about this guy: http://www.coolauto.co.uk/faq.asp to take a look at my car. The aircon in mine has been totally stripped out but I keep toying with the idea of putting a more modern system back in depending upon (likely horrendous) cost.
