My 2022 Cayman GTS

The two engine pics seem to be a straight lift from the 718 GT4 press pack or the Porsche website around the time of launch - I have a copy of those in my files. The PDK cutaway is also available online.

The personalised cutaway seems cool, he must be photoshopping the original Porsche one?

He most probably is Dave but I’m neither talented enough or have the patience to do stuff like this so if it helps a chap pay his bills I’d rather give him the £40.

Dan.

So this after noon, OC Home Command caught me unawares and asked if I fancied a Taycan rather than the GTS!! Where did that come from?? We specced one up and even for the base model 'lightly' optioned, it comes in at almost £80k and, if I'm honest, it probably wont fit on the drive it's that big.

We are fortunate to have a Tesla Model 3 Long Range in the family as well and even though it is a great car full of wacky tech, it doesn't make me smile when I get in or out of it, I don't look back when I park it up and walk away, I don't yearn to go out and drive it. It's just there. It has no soul, no heritage, no passion. Yes they have a cult following the same as Porsche but in a different way and I know that the Taycan is a Porsche and the heritage is still there just in a different form but I'm a petrol head, always have been. I'll probably eat my words in the years to come but who knows, maybe we'll be fortunate enough to have a Macan EV or even a Taycan sat on the drive as well as the GTS but the EV will belong to the OC as she is fully converted to driving milkfloa...... sorry EVs.

Only time will tell I suppose.

An interesting perspective Dan since you have direct experience of a performance IC engined car and a state-of-the-art BEV.

Probably it’s very much an age thing but I just can’t get excited about EVs. Apart from their environmental attributes, efficiency and impressive performance, the lack of an interesting sound track makes them - as you’ve pointed out - somewhat soulless. But they’ll rapidly become the norm, and a new generation of drivers will grow up not knowing anything different … by which time no doubt I’ll be in my box! 😀

Small update today

Freeze point is 25/1/22

expected at dealership 18/3/22

My OPC is just waiting on Porsche UK to put the allocation in my name and confirm the pre-price increase price before sending me the full build time line as it will then show it at V200. I’m pretty much sorted with my spec so I told my salesman to send it in now as there’s nothing I would change.

Small update from my OPC and he has sent me a screen shot of the build timeline.

It looks like the freeze point and expected delivery have slipped slightly to the right but no big deal.

So a small update today.

Car had its freeze point 2 days ago! Good job I didn't want to change anything. Delivery to the OPC is now scheduled for 25 March.

This point in the process is both exciting and frustrating as all you can do is wait, but your car is going to be fabulous and it will be well worth the wait. I love that colour and look forward to seeing it (and you) soon.

Small update late yesterday and it would appear its stuck in pre production. My Salesman thinks it’s waiting on parts and ‘should’ now go into build at the end of next week with an arrival of 8th April, just a week later than initially quoted. From the PVMS it’s shown as not waiting transport for long with it arriving and leaving Emden on the same day and the same at Grimsby.

Bonus though I’ve a VIN and it’s a Stuttgart build.

Good news! Looking forward to seeing some of these long-awaited cars all together later in the year.

It's great when you are near the end.. I tracked mine through the ship departures from Emden, you can also look at arrivals into Sheerness, my wife thought it was a bit sad but hey, we're lads, right?

I've just emailed PWL shipping and asked for the export schedule for March & April. Hopefully I'll be able to pin point a vessel based on the export date from Emden. Like you Ralph, I'm into this kind of stuff and its good to watch it on its travels to Grimsby. Did you get your production line photos? Youll find them on the 'My Porsche' app. I'm also looking at booking the factory tour if the club doesn't sort anything out.

Yes my wife thinks I'm extremely sad and need to take up something more satisfying like gardening!!
