I have just completed the water pump, belt and 71-degree thermostat replacement it took me with some knowledge about 12 hours all in, but I was meticulous, the problem was removing the pump in the car and then replacing it whilst engine was in the car, but it was possible and I now have no leak, as I tested it with water and ran it to temperature, I should have read all the paperwork I got with the car as it had a new 71-degree thermostat fitted 600 miles ago!!!
I fitted a GATES belt ( £16.00) as these seem to be the best, which was bought from a car parts supplier on fleabay, the Water pump I have fitted is a Magnet Marelli with the steel fins instead of plastic and that was also off of fleabay and cost £ 63.95 delivered and it comes with gasket from this seller
mas-motorstore the thermostat was not so easy to find and that was also from fleabay for £63.36 with gasket and gasket sealer from

frazer_74[/h1]All in all I am happy with the job and apart from jiggling the pump about to get it out and again back in that took the most time, I have now flushed with water the cooling system, and hopefully removed any of the broken fins off the pump, I am now waiting to get some Porsche approved g12 or g30 antifreeze I'm not sure which is best, then I can start driving it again!!
I had to cut the clamps holding the exhaust to the engine plate but I have 2 new ones on the way, apart from that a fairly easy job, and I found it easier to fit the new water pump gasket from above after the new pump was ready to bolt down don't try to fit it with sealant before getting it through the tight hole back into the bay as you will just break or tear the gasket, you have been warned, but, save yourself a few hundred its not that hard to do!! with some knowledge
