Museum trip and ring trip next year
- Thread starter sulzeruk
- Start date
So the plan is:
Evening overnight ferry DFDS from the toon (Newcastle)
Holland Tuesday morning head for Dinslaken overnight stay.
Wednesday Dinslaken Porsche Show then up to Nurburgring area overnight stay.
Thursday off to the " Ring" we are still unsure of track availability ? (Edd) ? Early afternoon set off for Stuttgart overnight in city centre IBIS
Friday morning museum TBA (Al) ?
Friday Afternoon head up to Boppard for an overnight (The southern lads sort their route)
Saturday amble up through Holland for overnight ferry.
We will set meet up points along the routes as trying to stay together in convoy is a nightmare, a list of contact numbers for all will be issued so that we can keep in touch.
Post your names here if coming and get some hotels booked, i will contact Sonja who is part organiser for ticket collection/payment details.

I booked up the hotels as well this afternoon, so you may well have a 924 in your midst. Will need to book the tunnel or ferry from Dover. Any other Southeners?
Nice one Carrera, Edd has not been on tonight so is probably working ? all i can say is make your way to Dinslaken and we will meet up and you will be in good company, pretty sure you will not be on your own on the way up and loads of time to firm things up now, it will be nice to meet you and your car !
Still early days and a few watchers have not yet been on here today.

You lads have been busy!
Ok I've been umming and arring over whether I can still do this. Decided that for my 40th in 2013 I'm going to do a trip with Petrolhead Nirvana on their Alpine assault of the Alps, deposit now paid. Bit concerned doing this museum trip might be stretching things a little bit for me next year. I'm not going to pull out quite yet but just bare in mind I might. Although the thought of hooning across Germany in a 944/924/968 convoy is something I dont want to miss, especially as the 2nd May is my 40th!

I cant commit at the moment as we have a lot of work on in the first 5 months of the year, currently it looks like i will be working in Jersey while you are enjoying the German autobahns and beer. If I can make it I will be going for a Dover crossing and aim to meet you guys from the North for the first stop.

You're coming up to 40 Edd? Crumbs, I had you down as a bit younger than me (and I'm a chunk younger than 40!) Well done lad! [

I'm not yet committing to this trip as I reckon it'll be the thick end of £500 each, with two in a car. There is a fairly strong possibility that I will be doing a European trip in early April with my missis, so if that comes off then I'll not be on the 944/968 tour. However if the trip with the missis doesn't happen then I probably will come ...

Even if I cant make the whole, Dinslaken-Ring-Museum trip then (hopefully) I think I should be able to at least do a part of it. Tourist drive dates on the ring are still unpublished, I will keep an eye out for any as they pop up.

Personally even though i live 5 miles from North Shields ferry, i think we should do the Hull - Zeebrugge ferry route as i can get us a return crossing per couple including car for £160, compared to the crossing from North Shields been around the £325 mark...
Ferry crossing out - Mon 29th 18:30 - Tue 30 April 08:45
Ferry crossing return - Sat 4th 19:00 - Sun 5th 09:00
Let me know everyone's thoughts, of course we need to work out the difference in mileage i.e. fuel cost to the ferry crossing cost ?
Thanks
