Motor Racing Show - Brentwood Centre 17th & 18th Jan

Following my comments this evening, I understand the annual Brentwood Centre Motor Racing Show is on again this weekend.

B,P & I have been in past years and, whilst predominantly aimed at short track and oval racing, there is still a fair amount of interesting things to see. Last time we went they were starting up dragsters at various times throughout the day - quite an experience close up.

Some have suggested they will be there at 12:00 on Sunday so why not come along?

We went, we saw, we got seriously shafted. 2x£10 + £5 for Peter, to walk round a sports hall filled with bangers (cars not people) and a few tented areas containing a few more bangers and a stall selling retreads.

Granted there was one profuel rail (big draggster I think that is) a jet powered dragster and a dragster powered by what looked like a lawn mower engine. There were several super stocks, a Legend, a few grass track cars and the like, but the majority looked like bangers to me.

They had a "Live Action Arena" which bore as much simillarity to the event with the same name at the NEC as kiddies pedal carts have to Le Mans. At the NEC they have rally cars v auto cross, they have super cars, they have go carts, they have stunts, noise and power. At Brentwood they had glow plug powered radio control stock cars which were live in so far as they weren't actually going round at all.

We managed to eak out the whole heady experience for all of an hour and left.

For those who chose not to go - I sallute you.
