Pleased to report that Turbo S just passed teh MOT with no advisories, happy boy !
I looked at last years certificate and noted an advisory on the handbrake efficiency, so spent a couple of hours yesterday cleaning the drums (inside of the rear discs) and handbrake shoes and adjusting them up. Glad I did so = very efficient hand brake.
For anyone else with a less than efficient handbrake I would advise doing the same as over the years the dampness gets into the rear discs and the handbrake braking surface becomes rusted, pitted and glazed. When this happens no matter high much you adjust the handbrake cable you don't efficient braking, TBH if I'd had the time/ facility I'd have had the inside of the drums skimmed on a lathe to give a decent braking surface.
