Hi Guys

Got through the MOT after repairing the windscreen washer motor and wiper blades: £7 for the pump and £12 for the blades and no retest fee paid. Steering u/j worn as only advisory.
However on the way home I broke down, Engine conked out.
Managed to get it started and then home.
Is there a petrol feed relay that could have an intermitant fault as the plugs were bone dry?
Does a fuel filter eventually clog up?

At least it now has a years ticket and I think I'm going to do the sills in the next couple of months before taxing it.
I will try to post Pics as I do it.

BTW having talked to the MOT tester about the impeding completion of the welding on my MK1 Capri I was not aware that cars are tested to the standard that was in place in the year of manufature.
He also said when I told him of the quality of my welding: "just whack loads of underseal on the dogey bits".
That is testing it to 1972 standards. I think I'll just finish with an old magazine and lots of filler!!

Thanks everyone.

Hi Nigel

Great news about the MOT

Fuel pump is controlled by DEM relay, common fault, I have a spare if you want to pop round

"Worn" steering joints in the shaft often turn out to be that the bearing cups have relaxed back and it's actually end float not diametral wear of the bearings.

If you take the shaft off and press the cups then peen around the diameters to stop the bearing cups from moving it saves the cost of a refurbished shaft.[;)]

2 couplings, 8 cups and any of them can move.
