Hi Lads
Just back from the dreaded NCT test. I wasnt expecting to pass but she failed on 3 items
Cracked headlight - I have new lenses but I need the mounting frames .. I have these on my scrap 924's. The lenses now are not the correct ones as the car was originally fitted with sealed beam units in the USA and the mounting rings are different. I need 2 477-941-046-00
Both rear lapbelts were stiff on the inertia reels I never thought about this at all - A bit of WD40 will cure this. I was afraid they might get me to change them to 3 point
Flexible Brake hose crazed/perished - I am glad they picked this up in fairness as this is a major safety item ! I am going to get the 4 flexis done and fluid change now to be sure
A surprise was the suspension which had 0% side slip - Thanks to the Hartech wisbones and the shocks/springs which had an imbalance of 2% in the front and 1% in the rear ! thats the original Konis for ya
The highlight was the waiting room ! the inspector called out "Porsche 944 88-D-32136" I waited a wee while to watch people look around to see who had the Porsche. Then I put the chest out and said "Excuse Me - Excuse Me" No Nissan Almera for me ... (Just my little moment of out and out snottyness and distain for lesser beings. I am not like this at all really [
])
The NCT inspector said he took his time and declared that the car was "In really good order for her age" and told me she would "walk the retest"[
]
I will have to post up pics of my LED sidelight/ Markerlight modifications to bring it up to NCT requirements ! It really looks cat but when I get the retest it will be put back to original !
