Most suitable home charger

Hi Guys,
In the process of looking for a Taycan. Not had an electric before so do not have a home charger, any recommendations? Reports on the Porsche unit suggests a number of issues, the reports on the Andersen unit [Andersen now official installers for Porsche unit] suggests aftersales is poor? Open to advice.

Unfortunately I can’t answer your question but I assume that the 12V auxiliary battery will be a lithium-ion type and there are a number of well-know manufacturers such as Ctek who can supply an appropriate device.

However I’m interested to know why with an EV you would need a battery conditioner when surely the car's internal software will manage the 12V battery by topping it off using the main high-voltage traction battery? Unless of course you’re planning to lay-up the car for extended periods of time?🤔

I'm after advice on a home wall charger [7 kW} to charge the EV battery pack, not a battery conditioner.

Ha,ha! Apologies Peter … clearly I was on the wrong track totally!😀

I’ve not yet taken the EV route but my friend recently purchased a Skoda Elroq RS and got a [discounted Ohme Home Pro or similar?] charger through his electricity supplier Octopus. After a few initial handshaking issues he’s been very happy with the set-up which includes cheap electricity even during the day at times with their smart charging system.

I’m sure that it’ll be worth talking to your own supplier to see what’s on offer.

Relative has an Anderson EV charger, uses it for several makes of EVs; and says installation and after sales service has been good. Had it for over 2 years and they had to replace the cable that connects charger to car and promptly responded and fixed fault.
