MOSCOW TO NEW YORK - BY ROAD ANYONE?

This trip sounds great, i Don’t know how long you intend to be @ the air museum? Having been here several times, a couple of hours or so will not touch the sides of the attraction, to do it justice you need at least 1/2 day. It really is a fascinating place with masses of exhibits etc to see. Hope this is of use to you, it is not intended as a criticism.

Steve.

The junction of the A616 and A61 at Tankersley is just about the halfway point - Tankersley Manor is right there on our route with ample parking and facilities. I can find out if they could cope with us - but it is a pretty big place and I would imagine they could.

We can discuss our options on Sunday.

Thanks & regards.

Zeusy,

Hi Stephen.

Yes the museum really is a little belter. I too have been there many times and yes there is a lot to take in. I think though on this visit we would have around a 3 hour time slot available - so we would manage to catch the last Lancaster taxi run of the day at 4pm (I think) - and enough other time to see the other main exhibits. The NAAFI will be open too but I think they stop serving hot food at 2pm - we could always bring a sandwich. I know the place you mention near Market Rasen and have often pulled in there on an afternoon - it is a very popular spot. The key to our run is keep going at a brisk pace and try not to hang around too much - I think the roads I have picked will allow us to have a really good run out plus enjoy the Lanc and museum and the V-ate pit stop cafe as added bonuses.

I am planning on doing the Lincs la Sarthe later in the summer as a late afternoon / evening run so this will include other Lincs options we can enjoy later.

Are you joining us for brekky this Sunday?

Zeusy.

Sorry won’t be joining you for brekky as will be out of the country on holiday! Hopefully in some sunshine!

Sounds great - I would definitely be up for this run - look forward to the updates

Hello Mark & Julie.

Thanks for your interest I will keep updating the thread as we go.

Latest news at the moment is that I have made a provisional booking at the air museum for Saturday 2nd May which is a Lancaster taxi day - there is good free parking and we may get our own section once numbers are confirmed.
Also at the half way stop I had forgotten there is a brand new Costa Coffee and a brand new Starbucks which both recently opened and are both situated on our route with good access and parking so we are spoilt for choice.

..... I love coffee I love tea ........ slip me a slug from the wonderful mug .......

Best regards.

Simon, the events team already have this in hand, we're on the ball [;)]

O.k. Porsche playmates here's the latest update on our forthcoming jaunt.

The Moscow to New York Run is now scheduled for Saturday 2nd May. [:)]

We have made a provisional group booking for 30 breakfasts from 08:00 hrs at the bakery café starting point - anyone who would like a breakfast there please let me know ASAP. :p

Some members have already indicated they intend coming along and driving the full route so I will be compiling a list with these fine folks names on it and add any others as /when they confirm.

Also we have had some interest from members who have said they would like to join the run at the Tankersley halfway point which is absolutely fine - we just need to establish which place it will be i.e. either Costa or Starbucks.

Moving swiftly along ( .......well it is almost teatime.......) the next thing we need to do is confirm who wants to visit the museum and who wants to then indulge themselves at the V-ate afterwards. The museum is pretty flexible regarding numbers but the V-ate will need to know ASAP exactly how many of us are coming.

So there we have it ........... if you want to come along with us please say so.

As Mr Pontin used to say to us all ....... avoid disappointment [:(] book early! [:)]

Regards.

Zeusy.

.......some say yes ........ some say no .........but the art school dance goes on forever.
