I need 2 control arms for my 944 turbo one of mine is behond rebuilding

OPC have given me a great price 968 arms £358 each inc vat.........................£716

Hartech 175 each +vat but I only have one exchange so +75 +delivery............£540

then teilecar do them without exchange and 2year waranty...............................£380

If I was going to spend 540 on hartech I would spend the extra on New OPC units, I'm not shy about spending on my car but this suspension re-build is already over 3k in parts alone.......anybody know anything about teilecar?
their ebay reviews are good

Olli may know more, seeing that he knows where Marek gets his GRP panels from. If I was opting for remanufactured parts then Id only consider Hartech, because whilst cheaper options are available, they dont have a reputation for lasting.

Ken,

If you were going to rebuild your own, can you not acquire another good second hand one then rebuild?

Of the options presented I would go with Hartech, a known quantity, plus if you were happy to pay the extra from Hartech to OPC, may as well pay the extra and go middle of the three?

How much does it cost to have your own rebuilt?

I'm sort of decided Hartech are out as I'm paying £75 for the exchange unit plus £15 to send my usable back plus carraige to get them back £100+

I was never going to build my own my plan was to get my current arms powder coated and then send them to Hartech to rebuild Sad I know but I have a colour scheme for the underside of the car....you never know who you're going to run over[:D][:D]

Now the one is damaged it is a different story OEM is a bargain at the discounted price but buying them puts me back 4 weeks!, [][]

Also: £75 is the rice of a good part, not a core part. Id expect to be able to buy a worn but rebuildable wishbone for a lot less than £75.

For a car like yours Ken, Id suggest joining the club, if you arent already a member. The club valuation is cast iron and worth many times the fee for ether an agreed value or, heaven forbid, a normal policy. Actually itd be worth its weight in gold if you have the latter.

As I said years ago, a certain specialist insisted on using new arms if the car was going to see a few track days. The Hartech arms do not seem too terrible I admit, but at those prices, I would probably have the 'what if' feeling (I do on the damned Alfa 147! Pattern arm barely lasted a year! The genuine arm is already creak free (albeit 3 times the cost (£30 vs 80).

yes sound advice[:)].....once I'm over the shock of the arms I'll join....one day I may even drive the car[:D]

The teilecar listing shows their arms come with a 2 year warranty, as said ask Olli though.

They have a warranty, but if they fail it doesn take them off the car and ship them back to Poland, then refit the new ones when they come back. In that circumstance the warranty isnt as important as being confident that they wont fail, for me.

Also, as a club member you should get at least 10% off at OPC.
I think Hartech offer discount to members also.

Why not pick up a usable arm and have them powdercoated and rebuilt.

Alan.

His OPC have given him quite a discount already, going on those prices. Nearly £90 off each one, if I am not mistaken!

It is worth making friends with your local opc parts dept, they know me well I send them pictures of the car so they can see how it's progressing I'ts allways worth asking for discounts ALL opc have Classic car part targets that they have to meet! ....so they really want your business sometimes more than Mr Smith buying a set of mats for his 997 turbo.
OPC will normally beat all the prices I get from specialist's, they did me a good deal on these, and a even better one on new spring plates[:)]

Most of these rebuild control arms comes from a Slovenian based company. They do rebuilding a bit different way compared to DIY rebuild kits available. I should have company's address , have to look for it. I suppose most UK companies which sell rebuilt control arms, sell these Slovenian made units. This company makes also nice semisolid bushings for most Porsche models including 944/968 models.

Don't have experience yet, have installed couple of them last summer. Overall quality seems to be good and i suppose they will last longer than most DIY kits do. This Slovenian factory builds arms a bit different way, so even badly worn old ones can be re built. My English is so bad, that i am not able to describe the procedure they use [] but ball is installed more or less the similar way like they are in 968 arms.

Your English is bad? I suspect that this has made a few of us smile - you English is brilliant. On the other hand, my Finnish is bad!
