Momo steering wheel

I've just bought a Momo wheel and Momo boss that had been removed from a 944S2. This morning I fitted it to my S2 and everything went fine until I drove it. Turning the wheel made the horn sound, on and off as the wheel was turned. I disconnected the horn push and isolated the wire from the hub frame so there was no short there, and then turned the wheel and again the horn sounds. I noticed that the Momo hub goes a lot further down the steering shaft than the original and thus squeezes the copper spring pick up further down, also when removing the Momo hub the copper pick up on the column snags
on the base of the hub. I'm wondering if there should be some sort of spacer/washer between the base of the hub and the stop on the steering column. The chap I bought it off said he had no problems with it on his car and he had supplied all the parts he had removed.
So I'm stuck and disappointed as it is a really nice wheel in good condition and looks and feels great. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and has the solution or could offer some suggestions on what to try to fix it.

Many Thanks

Is it definitely a Momo manufactured boss Malcolm? Whats the part number and can you add a picture of the underside?

Hi Simon, It has Momo stamped into the top of the frame where the holes are drilled for the wheel to be screwed onto, and stamped into the edge of the base that is painted black is L 7004. I don't have a picture at the moment and I'm not too sure how to post one on here. By the way thanks for your quick response.

You post pictures by hosting on PhotoBucket or similar first, then pasting the direct link (not their 'image' link) with the forum code
afterwards.

Hi, thanks for the picture yours is exactly the same as mine,on the car and the boss. So now I'm really confused. It seems there is the lightest of contact on certain areas of the wheel as it is turned as the horn works intermittently as the wheel is turned. Put the original wheel back on and everything is back to normal.
I see you are in Chalfont, I'm in Thame is there any chance I could have a closer look at your wheel and car and see if I can spot the difference?

You are more than welcome to pop over to have a look.
The car is on axle stands with no engine so i cant meet you anywhere!
I am in all day today if that suits you

Cant help with this issue but if anyone has a wheel for sale for an S2 I wouldnt mind a change, the current original one is too big and tends to be too close/touch my legs, im 6ft so not that lanky.

I couldnt find a very good picture or description of the column switches
It does appear they are adjustable as i read a section saying..adjust the column switches so there is a 2-4mm gap to the steering wheel..

Hi Tim, thanks for the update and letting me see your car and hub for comparison. I will be having another look later this week and let you know how I get on.

You were right Tim,moved the indicater/windscreen wiper unit a couple of mm back and problem solved. By the way you do not need to remove that dash section you can just get at it from the drivers side with a mini socket on an extension. Once again many thanks for your help.
