Earlier caliper had a raised Porsche script and late ones had a decal. This applies to all calipers and isnt size specific.
Early S4/M030 calipers had the raised namestyle and late ones have a sticker, same with 964/951-220/S2/968 calipers.
Now youve grasped the three sizes of black caliper (with the largest 944/968 fitting being the middle-sized one), I will add that Big Reds are the same as Big Blacks, except for being upside down. You can swap over the bleeds and crossover pipes and make them identical other than for their colour, but youll probably find that red calipers sell for more making them unviable ('because racecar' etc).

So if I fit late turbo, these will be an upgrade as they are lighter than the MO30's!!
Actually a block of wood pressing on the wheel would be an upgrade compared with the state of my brakes.

Yours and Edds pictures are similar, so looking at either: the caliper on the far right is used on 220bhp 944 Turbos. The caliper in the centre wasnt ever fitted by Porsche to a production 944 (although it can be retro-fitted). The caliper on the left was fitted to 1987-1988 Turbos which had the M030 option and to 1989 model year onwards 250bhp Turbos as standard, but without the rest of the M030 kit (bushes, ARBs Dampers etc).
The caliper on the right mounts axially - which means that the bolts go 'through the Porsche name front to back and through into the hub. The left and centre calipers mount radially (and are interchangeable because of this) - which means that the bolts go through behind the Porsche script from the top of the P to the bottom and into the hub.
The only caliper out of the three in the picture to have a name is the one in the centre, called 'Big Black', which wasnt fitted to any series production Frontrunners - other 'black' names are arbitarily made up and cause confusion. The better known 'Big Red' is exactly the same caliper as the Big Black, but its painted red and a couple of bits are swapped around so that they can be used the other way around (ie on the trailing edge of the disc as opposed to the leading edge).

M030 discs have a beefy look in the ventilation :

(note that only 968 M030 discs will be cross drilled, other M030 discs are all solid).
The venting on non-M030 discs doesn't look as beefy :

I copied it from a German site and removed German text.
From left:
Caliper first made for 928 S4. Also used with 928 GT. Later so called 951 S caliper and M030 option caliper for 944 S2 & 968.
In the middle, is a 928 GTS caliper. Size is the same as so called Big Red caliper is. Only difference is the placement of cross over tube.
On right is a normal 951,S2 & 968 caliper. Physically the same size caliper was used with 964. 964 version will fit also under951/S2/968. 964 version is a good upgrade since it has bigger pistons than 951/S2/968 versions have. If more brake power is needed, 964 version can be used. A good alternative, if wheels does not give the possibility to use bigger size calipers.
All of these caliper types were available first with raised (casted/machined) letters. Later ones had painted letters.
Brembo went for painted letters mainly to reduce fabrication cost. Also same caliper was able to use under different brand cars, like Ferrari, Maserati etc.
There where different size pistons also in early vs. late 951 calipers. Size was changed to model year 1987 calipers.
