Millau Bridge - Campsite Recommendations

So this has very little to do with Lancashire and Cumbria, or Porsches for that matter apart the fact I am in Region 18 and drive Porsches.
A mate and I are planning a trip on bikes down to the Millau Bridge and I was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions as to good (small) campsites in the vicinity of Millau.
(Any comments about staying on the bike long enough to get to Millau will be ignored)[:)]

Fred, If you can stay on the bike long enough to get to the Millau Bridge[:D][:D][:D][:D] and need a
campsite when you get there, I am afraid I cant help. However I know a man who might just be able too. So i will ask him and forward the answer to you post haste.
 
I hope to be at the meeting briefly tomorrow so hopefully have an answer then. The only problem is the chap in question (my Dad) who will know is in France and he does not always answer his phone.

Don't waste a phone call to France for just this information. Only thinking of going in June so time is not of the essence.

I think you will be ok just to "wing it"! The Michelin maps seem favourite for marking French campsites on. Loads of municipal sites.

Is it wise though Fred, Could you ride that far without falling off?

If you get chance you may also want to ride some of the Tour de France mountain roads into the Pyrennes! Stunning!

Good website.
I've got loads of campsites marked, read the book, seen the film, got the t-shirt. Looking for personal recommendations. Found one list that have approx 7400 sites listed, edited it so it had just those sites listed as 'small' (884 of them!) and that is now a POI for the TomTom. When I know where we are going (not the royal we but a mate and myself) then I'll create an itinerary for the TomTom as well, will also edit out all those sites that are totally useless.

Don't want to 'wing it' on the way down, it is 540 miles from Cherbourg to Millau so having a definite site to aim for on the second day would be much less stressful rather than trying to find one once you are there.

(I only fall of close to home so if I survive the first ten miles we should be okay!)

Pyrennes for some other time I think. Riding on those roads with loaded up bikes could be a bit iffy. Perhaps when we have a base to leave all the gear.

Does anyone have any suggestions of Fine Hotels in the vicinity of the Bridge ?
I'm joining a group going in July...

Gary,
Canvas Hotel is good enough for me. All part of the fun. We are hopefully going in June so if I spot any suitable hotels I'll warn them you may be trying to book in.[:)]

That is the type of weather that is awful on a bike. (especially when you are trying to eat up some miles)
At least you had one fine spell when you had stopped somewhere.

Bit of a coincidence seeing two more 914s at the same halt, what is the chances of that happening?[;)][;)]
