Mileage cog?

As I said Rob, you're not the first to say removing the wheel is not essential - there's a few posts about this on 968uk. However, as it's so easy to remove the 3 spoke wheel (and even the airbag wheel, as 968tipcab on 968uk found, and Kate is no mechanic!!) I stand by my view that it makes life that much easier, and I've had the binnacle out of my 968 cab a few times! It also makes disengaging and re-connecting the multi connectors much easier IMHO!

Did you lok at the silver coating for the 3 main bulbs when you had it out? I initially thought mine was not too bad until I re-connected it without fully re-installing the binnacle, and could see loads of light leakage which told me the silvering needed re-doing - and my instrument lights are loads better as a result of doing that!

Never looked at the silver coating... didn’t know I had silver coating ??, I’m fairly new to taking any part of the car to bits,

When you next take them out, along the bottom edge of the rear is the three bulbs that you replaced, insinde those holes used to be a reflective coating, slivering to reflect light up in to the display at night, this coating fades away over the years, the idea is to replace this with silver paint or foil to increase the back light to what it used to be

Now you know how easy it is to get the binacle out, release it so you can see the back but do not disconnect the wiring, switch the sidelights on and look at the back where the 3 main lights are, you'll quickly see if the silvering is leaking light and needs attention. When I looked at mine, the silvering looked OK, but turning the lights on showed how badly it was leaking.

I found a pricey repair kit from USA - don't bother, it's a rip-off!
