Paul, when you mention the gauge - is that the original one built into the dash, or an additional one that has been fitted. The dash is mis-leading as it is absolute, not actual boost pressure - i.e. the pressure over and above atmospheric. Your '86 car had the K26/6 which was a smaller turbo, but would spool up quicker, I had one of those in the past, and it was less laggy than a std K26/8. Sherlock wondering....yours running 290bhp by chance?
