Its Matts old car I think.

Paul usually puts all original panels and paint if it is so maybe its not? Worth checking.

Think the market is still generally flat this year to be honest and the euro down 15% on earlier in the year not helping euro sales.

We are still in a significant recession which is going to get worse before better and I honestly think there are fewer people splashing out on expensive toys. That said there are still plenty of very wealthy ones out there!

It's not so long ago that the price would have been low £40's --- and I do love Des' line.

There are NO virgins in the bordello. This car has a roll cage .... but I know it's had money spent whenever and wherever required, and it's powerful [:)]
 
yes, i am sure it has more to do with the euro and subsequent retard in european interest for the remaining left hookers in the UK, than a sudden shift in market appreciation of this future classic. nice article by Richard Meaden in this months GT Purely Porsche fyg.
 
I've had 2 different buddies spot the silver RS and ask me what I know about it... seems there is still some interest around at that price...
Nice blue one on pistonheads for £70+k prob nearer current market...

To be honest 70k gbp/€85k sounds a bit like Eugster in Zurich prices [;)]

Makes Matts widebody alzen at 50000 euro look stupidly cheap.

SCOM do seem to have a large book of clients with considerably more money than...
 
One never knows where the final negotiation ended, but SCOM do sell their cars and I have never heard anything other than good news about them.

I simply said Matt's car looked extremely good value against what is now on offer at SCOM and that's where my money would have been had I been in the market?

There is no doubting SCOM sell their cars, usually at £10k more than identical ones elsewhere, which led me to my comment they have a customer base of deep pockets.

Seems pretty straightforward to me?
 
I prefer the good old days of 2000-2002 when that silver car would have fetched less than half the current asking price.
The only upside of todays 964RS prices is the capital gain if you are selling a car that you have owned for at least 2 years , but you then have the problem of what to replace it with if you want to continue enjoying the raw 911 driving experience.

Speaking as someone who buys Porsches with a view to driving them mainly on circuits - trackdays not racing - the £25000 964RS 'as was' seemed to be the 'sweet spot' for learning how to drive 911s quickly without being helped too much by electronics or scared too much by chassis misbehaviour.

IMHO tracking the £50-75000 964RS is a different proposition.....so is the £80-120000 993RS !!

Todays used car alternatives to the 964RS for circuit driving seem to be the early GT3's for £30-35000 or the early 911/SC based 911RS replicas for £20-25000. You would need to be a bit careful with the latter as there are quite an assortment of 'bitzas' out there of varying build quality , at least GT3s were built for purpose by the factory !
 
Well said John, totally agree mate.

Its inevitable when any particular car is given glorified status in mags that prices will rise and people will sit on them and they become investments rather than what they were intended for. I've done ok financially out of the cars i bought but like you do think that its a shame there will be a whole list of cars I'd like to have had and experienced properly that simply wont happen now because of the cost of purchase and replacement. Really want to reduce my garage to cars I can drive hard and not worry about what happens to them or what they may or may not be worth.

Would still like to try a mark 1 GT3RS long term...maybe i should take Ollie out and get him drunk[:D]

Well put! I remember thinking something similar with the 964 RSR and then simply sold it.
 
The 964RS long term index is invevitably on the up with peaks and throughs but the trend is certainly upwards.

This is just not sentimental hype, this is purely based on the raw and simple driving experience of this the perfect 911.

Sold ..... but good cars will always find their level .... the 64RS is still one of the best buys out there

Might go and have a nose at that - it's in my parents' village and I'm up there for a wedding next weekend. Can't imagine it will have sold by then ..........
