Magnetic “UK” stickers on a Cayman?

You can get stickers to go on your number plates if you don't want to buy new plates or use a magnetic one.

 
Magnetic won't stick to the rear bumper correct but may stick to the boot lid but not a Good view really of it.

Why not buy a sticker for the number plates it can be removed after the trip if you so wish

Can buy from EBay or a car spares shop.

 
Hi all, I am going to France this summer with my Cayman for the first time since I bought it (Covid restrictions and rules have prevented foreign trips until this year). I understand we now have to have a "UK” sticker on the back of the car (not a "GB” one) to travel abroad and I don’t want to get a sticky one as I don’t want to damage the paintwork. Does anyone know if a magnetic sticker will work on the back of the Cayman? I think the bumper is plastic so couldn’t put it there, but are there any suitable areas where the bodywork is metal that I could put a magnetic sticker?

My understanding of this is that there is actually no mandatory requirement on the European side for this at all.

I believe it was actually brought in as a recommendation by the British government to reflect the fact that the term ‘GB’ excludes Northern Ireland and ’UK’ is more appropriate.

I travelled in Europe twice last year with GB on my number plates (in pre-Brexit EU guise) and it was never queried.

 
Unfortunately I don't have Europlates either (plain ones with no country markings were what was on the car when I bought it and with Brexit I wasn't sure whether Europlates would still be legal - I would have changed them otherwise). Is it OK if I just don't put a sticker on or could I be pulled up for it in France? I don't want to risk damaging the paintwork with a sticky one.

 
Stick it on your rear window,bottom left hand corner. That will work fine and easily removed when you return.

 
Based on my experience last year the Crit’air stickers take a long time to arrive, I recall something like 6 weeks+.

perhaps now it is quicker ?

Easy process to apply and only costs €4.61 including international postage.

Basically upload V5 and pay your money.

Lasts for lifetime of the vehicle.

Just checked the Crit’air 1 sticker they sent and I now officially have a sticker for my ‘gas and rechargeable hybrid‘ 911 - I think something got lost in translation!

But at least have a sticker with reg number on even if wrong sticker( should be Crit’air 2 for a euro 6)

In that case it's basically too late anyway for me to apply for one - my trip is to Le Mans which is in less than three weeks' time now (how did that creep up on me so quickly!!).

What happens if I don't have one of these stickers? Will I get a fine? The car is a 2014 981 S, I assume that's a Euro 5? Or was it Euro 6 by that point? So it is either the latest standard or the one before.

 
The CritAir sticker is only needed if visiting the low emissions zones in the following cities. You are pretty safe going round them if you stick to the motorway and, even if you inadvertantly drive through without a sticker, the risk of getting picked up and fined is low unless you are stopped for another reason.

But you should be Ok for Le Mans as only Rouen is on the usual route. For the UK sticker, cheapskate that I am, i printed one off on A5 and stuck it inside the rear windscreen

 
Interesting as my list shows Rouen has a permanent zone, but there are also temp zones as follows:

I've got one anyway, so no worries. Gendarme apparently loving to pull Brits not carrying one on their windscreens…even outside of the area’s listed…

I applied for one for my 981 a few weeks ago. As electronic confirmation came in a day or so which it says you can print and use until the official windscreen sticker arrives. That took about a week. CritAir 1 for my 981S.

 
Applied for my sticker on Tuesday this week and got my e mailed certificate this morning Thursday! so perfectly happy to use this on my upcoming trip.

 
For 5 trips I've used the sticky UK oval on the left rear side on my Boxster, applied a few days before and after the trips.

sticker came off simple as can be, no residue, no paint loss.

my car is solid white, no clear coat.
