well the 930 finally bit back on a wet greasy road two weeks ago it fishtailed as i tried to correct but i could not regain control and became a passenger on a missile , I collided with a tree head on in the central reservation , luckly no other cars involved but the 930 SE flatnose is a total Cat B write off , I have been in hospital for the past few weeks and have to go back for sugery to my foot and ankle soon .

I have manged to get the salvage back from the insurance so i may be breaking it for spares or selling complete the engine(highly modified EFI)/gearbox is undamaged but the rest is in poor shape

if the car had been rhd i don't think i would be typing this now

I will try to psot some pictures shortly

this is indeed a sad day as it took me nearly 20 years to attaint this beautifull car

don't kow where i will go from here but if anyone is intrested in the car or parts please get in touch

all the best

johnny

Really sorry to hear of your accident Johnny.

Certainly makes me appreciate more all the PSM etc gizmo's Porsche put in the modern cars to help in such situations.

Glad you weren't more seriously hurt though, and I wish you a swift recovery [8|]

Really sad news, hope you make a full recovery.
I will take the gearbox if it's in good nick, been looking for a G50/50 for a while, probably have the other bits needed too like the gear stick, peddle cluster, servo etc. It'll be going to a good home too, i'll be fitting it in my 993tt engined 930, you're welcome to have a blast in it too if that helps sweeten the deal :) send me an email at jon@kigi.co.uk to get in touch

Johnny

We have just been emailing and there was me assuming you were unhurt. Thank goodness that they can rebuild you if not the car.

As just explained my engine is being rebuilt now, so timing a few weeks out. As I know the hard way, a good EFI engine is hard to come by so you should get good money for it.

I know Jonathan Lang well so worth getting in touch with him re the G50.

all the best Simon

Sad to read about your accident but glad you got out of it alive and not "broken up"....
Wishing you a complete recovery and as Aldo said... "you can replace planes but you can't replace pilots"...
All the best.

Heartily agree, would not consider my car without the four wheel drive and electronics to keep me alive. [8|]

I've just noticed in your sig that you have a 4-speed box, i assumed with it being a slant it would have had a G50, my bad.

I would think the engine alone should fetch at LEAST £10k if sold with everything to make it run, would make a really simple swap for someone looking for more power.

Have you thought about maybe buying a 964 carrera with a decent body but bad mechanicals, coil overs, ABS and G50 are there from the start, fit your 930 motor and go for some CTR type body parts? I know you'd have to either go for a big rear tail or have a different intercooler fabbed up, but you could have a really light, slippery yellow bird style rocket...would be a lot of fun

yeah been thinkin long and hard about this one .........still dunno wot to do , reckon yes i would want at least 10-15k for engine and box , might even give the complete car away for 15k

but like you say i could get a good shell and drop it in ...... even a turbo bodied SSE or a blown 3.3 1991-93 turbo ?

cheers

How is the insurance claim progressing if you don't mind me asking.

I take it you had an agreed valuation for such a rare car (noticed that red factory flat nose up for sale at 55K), hope they are good with you and let us know, its times like this that you find out if a company is any good.

oops, almost forgot, glad you are ok.

Motorway accidents are scary, you don't really appreciate how fast you are going until you have an accident at Mway speeds.

insurance company where fine as i had the car insured way below its value to keep the premium down ...... you never think your're gonna write one off completely ...........doh what a dumb more , so yes its settled but at only a fraction of the cars true value .....

bummer on top of bummer

Really, really sorry about that. Good lesson to us all to get our values agreed.
