Now I'm only thinking aloud here but is this viable for a 944S? I've googled it but the only thing that I can find is people worrying about the tank so far in the back (i would look into alternatives) also if anyone has had a conversion done how much did it cost?
Now I would love to diy it but the idea of gas is daunting but hey plenty of ptfe should be fine [:D]

Anyway your views may save me blowing myself or even worse the car up [:)]
 
Theyre already a frugal car and theres very little room for a worthwhile tank anywhere. Id say that its a non-starter even before you consider the cost, although a fopish journalist had an 8v car converted and it featured in 911&PW.
 
Tref has an S2 with an LPG conversion. Don't know if it works, or if it's worth doing, but it did nearly get blown up by the bomb squad when parked in London. [:eek:]

Wasn't this for sale last year ?
 
Tref has a car with a gas tank - its not connected yet :)

I have some pics of a white 2.5 8v converted,, was a good one and i think it maybe the one for sale last year.
 
Personally would not have thought t would be worth all the expense of installing LPG unless it is a daily driver even then you have got to clock some miles up to recoup the outlay.

On several of the 4x4 we have owned have looked into having LPG fitted but it would take at least 3 years to break even and that is on a 20mpg consumption rate.

Plus as has been said there is not anywhere to put a tank other than in the car under the hatch, I saw one like that at P&P a couple of years back and in my opinion it looked awful (sorry)

There are companies that now make replacement fuel tanks with a 50/50 split but again you will be adding to that install price!
 
I get what your all saying, I think I might give it a miss then as it is only a weekend car at best, maybe if I pluck up the courage to diy it but I know that'll never happen [:D]

There was definitely an article in 911& Porsche World a few years ago on this. Someone used to use their 944 as a daily drive and did mostly motorway miles and was very happy with it.

Agree with earlier comments about it taking a very long time for this to be a worth while exercise if the car isn't a daily drive.

 
This is a 944 TURBO that goes only on LPG.Fuel tank and complete fuel delivery system including injectors are removed from the car.And it is completely same even better and faster on LPG.You can see a little video.
