Lowest mileage??

86Turbo944

New member
Hello,
My 1986 944 turbo has just completed 39,000 miles, this got me thinking...
Can anyone beat this?

Everything mechanical about the car is original, never had any sort of rebuild so a genuine 39,000 miles.

Thanks
David

15K is the lowest I know of, on a car for sale a few years back.

As I understand it was bought and mothballed. Total waste of a car IMO; having just read an article on the Bahamas rally where some seriously collectible cars were being abused by drivers like Moss and Bell you have to wonder why someone would mothball a 944 yet others race a £4M Maserati 450S in anger...... My mate has a rear engined air cooled turbo charged beetle thingy with only 13k miles on it. It's a 1980 930 complete with pascha interior, one wing mirror and new car smell! Totally irrelevant to this thread but it's insured for telephone numbers.

Incidentally it did come on Alasdair's stag do and cover 700 miles with us in the Scottish Highlands. It was unable to trouble me for performance and also unable to pass a petrol station. Still jealous [:D]

Barry Smith, the Ex-Chairman has a 930SE Flatnose with - a couple of years ago -approx 4000 on it - again a little off topic!

On one of my first Club outings to PC Hatfield they had a 911 turbo for sale with, I think, delivery mileage. Certainly under 100 miles, an '86 I seem to recall.

It was up for £89K, this is about 7 years ago. That was about what you'd pay to drive out in a new 911 turbo, some would say a better car all round? I wonder which has depreciated more; 996 turbos are £20K cars now, what about an '86 turbo with two owners and some more miles, say 5K per year?

Apparently the car cost a fortune to get roadworthy. 20 years of storage meant almost every flexible part of the car had ceased to be flexible.....[&o]

Guess a 3.3 Turbo from the eighties with anything less than fifty on the clock has to be 35-40K?

Just had a look at autotrader - funny thing thye do not include the 944 in the options Porsche search?[&:]

However take a look at:-

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/porsche/postcode/cb45bx/radius/1500/maximum-age/over_10_years_old/maximum-mileage/up_to_20000_miles/sort/priceasc/page/2

Show cars through the range from 1965 on with really low miles[8|]
