lower arm repair kits

Hi has anybody used a ball joint repair kit or height correction repair kit on there lower arms (88 alloy mo30 arm) not sure which to go for if any at all would be grateful for any info thanks.
 
Nope, sorry, got my garage (RPM Technik) to do it. I think it was quite time consuming but worth it for peace of mind. I plan to change the pins fairly regularly just to be on the safe side but they haven't done enough miles to justify it just yet.
 
did you go for the solid bushes and can i ask before you put the longer pin on was the ball joint end of the lower arm higher then the other end.
 
The Rennbay kit is good - I have the 17mm geo correcting ones with the Bronze bushes on it. Rennbay also do a kit to replace stock bushes on cars not lowered. The problem with the stock ball joints is that the bushes are Nylon and don't last long and the ball of the pin starts wearing into the socket of the A-arm and in a battle of Steel vs. Aluminium you know which will always win out. The Rennbay kit also includes a grease nipple so you can ensure the bush is always lubricated with nice fresh grease. I get my nipple squirted every service.

These things are surprisingly strong. I cringe when I see the geometry correcting 17mm pin on my car as it just looks too long and slender you thing it possibly can't be strong enough, however there are quite a few of them kicking around in the states on cars that are races or tracked heavily and they do very well with a good population of happy customers. I've also seen a photo of a car that was involved in a front drivers side crash and as the wheel was pushed back it was the A-Arm that snapped about 3 or so inches up from the ball joint rather than the pin, which was still intact, though a bit S-shaped.
 
thanks for the info guys my car gets a lot of abuse on track i do fancy the 19mm for added security its just drilling the stub axle is it just a case of removing and sticking a 19mm drill though it ?
 
I guess you'll need to do it on a Pillar drill to ensure the hole is perfectly square. I'd use a pillar drill, a machine vice, line the hole up by running the hole through with the of a 17mm drill first (not rotating), bolt the vice down and run the 19mm drill through - or even better ream it.

I know what you mean. The extended pin does induce some bump steer but (guess what) Elephant Racing do a kit to cure that. [&:] More money.
 
Took one of the lower arms off today to check the condition for a ball joint rebuild, removed rubber boot and found two notches in the casting were the ball joint has touched so i think it wound be too risky to use, so will have to go for two refurbed units, took the part numbers off the arms 951.341.149.10 & 951.341.150.10 not what i expected not sure if these are the right arms for the car (88 turbo s with mo30) these numbers are not on my PET does anybody no what arms should be on this car thanks.

Can anybody tell me what cars these control arms fit

i have checked on PET and other parts catalogues but cannot find part numbers.
 
Very strange according to PET the correct arms for my car are
  1. 944.341.927.31
  2. 944.341.928.31
so dont know if its got the right arms on the car, i was going to fit the ball joint repair kits but found notches in the casting around the ball joint so i thought about getting two refurbed arms from hartech but dont know how long they wound last on a lowered track car with kw suspension.
Dont know if the damage to the arms was done before i had the suspension fitted .
