Sort of behind where the balance belt roller is, I am thinking that the came cover is sealed all the way round, really dont want an errant bolt getting in there do I.

i lost one of the belt cover bolts last night no idea where it went cant see it.

best bet is a magnetic telescopic pen about £3 have a fish about.

prob is that i think the lower cover sits a little loose until the top one is back on might find the bolt causes a prob aligning the 2 covers at worst.

had a look with a magnetic things and no sign, it is back together now but what a pain in the arse, obvioulsy then I went to try it and it is flat as pancake !

Anyone want to buy a 944 cab !!!!

Argghh, spoke to soon, it decided to dick about again today, idles nicely when it behaves itself though, anyone selling a Fuel Pressure Regulator ?

Daves wont suit. Id strongly advise against buy a used FPR, unless it is known good and about a tenner. Its a consumable and whilst the price will sting a little new (about £100), its seldom money wasted. Even if your FPR isnt faulty then itll go at some point, so you have headed off a breakdown!

Simon, was thinking the same but am trying to not go my normal route of throwing money at the problem, doing the cheap things first.

Its funny, it runs fine, most of the time, then it goes mental, then its ok.

Cleaning the ISV seems to have helped when its running ok, idle is rock steady , its just this issue when its been warm started.

Cheers for the offer Dave btw but doesnt sound like a turbo one is suitable.

I tried removing the vacuum line from the FPR but no fuel came out, no fuel smell either so suspect the Diaphragm is still intact, but I guess that it doesnt mean that its not knackered.

Am on the verge of ordering one.

that would worry me J4cko, did you try the magnetic suggestion above?

It would pick up that sort of bolt really effectively

Yep, spent ages rooting around with a telescopic magnet thing and nothing, done 50 miles in it and no problems, suspect its either well and truly lodged or its fallen out somewhere

Maybe so, I did have a fiddle with the tracks as it was stuttering occasionally and it did seem to cure it, anyone selling a known good one ?

Could do with a whole S2 spare to swap bits off.

Have changed

FPR
DME Relay

Have checked and cleaned,

Distributor cap
Rotor arm
Tested the DME temp sensor and it seemed to work
Removed plugs and checked the gaps
AFM

Other theories/possibilities

Fuel Damper - Do these fail and give this symptom ?
Leaking injector
AFM as mentioned
Fuel filter - Cant get the fecker off, one bolt solid so would need to change the pipe, dont think its that anyway
Vac leak - have looked over the hoses, seem in good nick
Speed/Reference sensor ?

Is there anything that can be read from the ECU ?
