We're in the process of finalising the calendar for the early part of this year. It'll be posted in our region page on the club website as well as Facebook. Our ever popular Drive Outs will resume in March. If you aren't already, please register yourself on the R5 WhatsApp community.

Details on the R5 page:-

We'll communicate reminders of events as well as the Drive Outs on WhatsApp. However, as in previous years, email from the club account and the calendar on this website will be the core method of communicating what's happening and formal booking with the exception of the Drive Outs. For new members, clicking "going" on a Facebook calendar event won't get a space. It has to be done through the club website to ensure everyone gets the information fairly.

On that note, now's the time to check your personal details on the website. Make sure your email address is still valid, and if you've been lucky enough to get a new car for Xmas, put that in there as well to make sure you're tagged to the appropriate register. Only you have access to that part of the website.

The next club night will be 21st February, however, we are finalising our pop up schedule round the region for a second club night on the road commencing in April, so watch out for a club night near you! Some coming back from last year, some new places.

Morning Simon. Good to hear things are starting again soon.

Could I make a suggestion regarding the R5 drives, if I may. Could one be held for those who have either not attended many (say less than 3) or for those who are new to the region? As you know it's a bun fight on the whatsapp group when a drive is announced and, unless you have your phone in your hand waiting, the chances of getting on one are slim ie: If places aren't filled by date X then it will be opened up to the rest of the region.

Just an idea of trying to get more folk involved in the region.

Hi Dan, I know it can be a bit of a lottery getting on a drive. However, for March we are looking at putting on two drives in ten days with different natures and requesting members go on one or the other but not both. We should be able to accommodate more of the pent up demand that arises after the winter shutdown. I take your point that we could start registering everyone who's been on drives but its proven to be a bit of nightmare with late withdrawals and changes that Jon Kenwell experienced over the last few years. It's a balance between between open season and an ongoing admin job for someone. What we will do is transmit information about the drives in advance and be clear when booking is open to ensure that we don't unintentionally exclude people.
