Looking at returning to the fold 993 to 991 !

Hi folks

Been a couple of years since I parted with my 993 tiptronic and find myself thinking about a 991. Been to view a couple of cars over last month or so at local OPC (Leeds) and very impressed. In fact through my indecisive behaviour I missed out on a white C2 manual that I was keen on !

Enjoyed the manual box , but understand they have mixed reviews. Only criticism was the clutch pedal had a slightly unusual feel in the the last inch or so upon release feels quite "loaded". The car was on 53k and ex demo. Tried another car in the showroom and that seemed a bit lighter and more uniform feel.

There's another C2 manual in at Leeds in Basalt Black with sensible mileage although a little over budget, I'd set myself a ceiling of 50k with a deposit of about 18k and rest on PCP. Perhaps some end of month negotiations could be had.........

Just rejoined the club, enjoyed the runs and events with my 993 (996 before that) and I can feel the draw to get myself kitted out with a 991. Would be a second car but one which I won't be frightened to use for daily duties etc in addition to the fun element.

Any words of wisdom and tips in relation to the 991 would be gratefully received!

Weirdly I've recently sold my 991 GTS and bought a 993 WB C2S which in my opinion looks as well as it drives - good luck with the search for the new car and welcome back To PCGB! I had a PDK transmission in my GTS and felt that half the enjoyment of actually spiritedly driving the car went as soon as I lost the manual box compared to my previous experiences in my 911's - personal opinion of course - as I say good luck with the search.

Manual 991s are pretty rare and many people will tell you pdk is the way to go, either because they are easier to drive, or because they are sharper on the track. Mine's a manual, as was my previous 997, and I've enjoyed every mile. I've driven a few pdk cars over the years, and just find them less engaging than the manual for the driving I do - mainly weekends on open roads, European trips etc. At the end of the day it's a personal choice, so suggest you get a good run in both and go with the one you enjoy most for the kind of driving you do.

Thanks Andy, was very very close to owning a Black manual last week however had a change of heart. White is pretty much the colour I'm after, very much personal choice but think it really suits the 991.

I missed a white manual in November and then found a really nice alternative however felt the colour was a compromise to what I really wanted.

Have now driven a PDK, albeit only for half an hour or so but actually really like it and feel it suits the 991 very well. Car had sports plus chrono, PASM etc although on standard multi function wheel, no PSE and standard seats.

Will keep my my eyes and ears peeled and certainly don't want to rush, as I'd end up regretting not seeking out the colour / spec that was acceptable to me......
