Locked Front Brake

Hi, has anyone had any problems with the front brakes locking on when parked up for a period of time, 3+ weeks. If so what was the response from your Porsche dealer
Andrew

Assuming you have iron discs they can stick on if when parked they are wet, hot, and/or foot was on the brake pedal when engine turned off etc. Not at all unusual.

More common for the handbrake to seize when parked up - so better to just leave it in Park if on the level and left for some time.
Lots of metal in brake pads nowadays. The front brake will likely free off if you gently rock the car to and fro a few times with the engine running. If not you may need to jack the wheel up and release it manually.

Clive

I am not sure when the change occurred, possibly on the 992.2…..

But now the parking brake is automatically engaged when the P button is depressed.. However it can be released independently of the Parking lock.

Vehicles with PDK also have a parking lock.

When the P button is pressed to engage gear P, the parking brake is engaged and the parking lock is activated.

The parking brake can be released in gear P independently of the parking lock.

The parking lock can only be engaged by inserting a different gear.

I tend to only have this happen when the car has been washed and the discs not blown dry or used. If it's possible, always worth driving a short distance after cleaning. If the car is open to the elements when parked perhaps a cover would help?
